The SODEXPORT – Component 2.1: Support for Business Opportunities and Promotion Abroad provides up to $20,000 in non-repayable funding to Quebec music and variety companies for targeted export and promotional projects outside Quebec. This program is designed to stimulate sales and increase international visibility through activities such as business development, artist showcases, and promotional campaigns in foreign markets.

- Financial assistance covers up to 50% of eligible project expenses, with a maximum grant of $20,000.
- For projects related to showcases, promotion, and co-writing, support may reach up to $35,000 per artist per fiscal year.
- The total combined government funding cannot exceed 70% of the overall project budget.
- The applicant must contribute at least 30% of the total project cost.
- Payment is made in two installments: 70% upon signing the funding agreement and 30% after project completion, subject to submission and approval of the final report.

- The applicant must be a Quebec-based company legally constituted as a corporation or cooperative, active for at least two years in the music and variety sector.
- The company must have achieved a minimum annual revenue of $50,000 in its last financial year.
- The applicant must have at least one Quebec artist, group, or ensemble under contract in music; in the case of humour, at least two Quebec artists, groups, or ensembles under contract (excluding artist-shareholders).
- The project must target a specific business opportunity or promotional plan outside Quebec for the commercialization of Quebec works or artists in a targeted market.
- The company must have fulfilled obligations to SODEC for any previous participation in SODEXPORT or other SODEC programs.

- Businesses that have not achieved a minimum annual turnover of $50,000 in the last financial year.
- Companies that have not fulfilled previous obligations to SODEC under this or other SODEC programs.
- Projects involving tours are not eligible for funding under this grant.

- Production costs for promotional material designed for export activities.
- Accreditation fees and space rental costs when there is no collective presence in the targeted market supported by SODEC.
- Fees for external consultants for work performed outside Quebec and for negotiating agreements.
- Legal fees associated with commercial agreements abroad.
- Interpreter fees.
- Radio tracking fees.
- Other relevant and necessary expenses essential to the realization of the project.
- International and local transportation costs in economy class (for business opportunities).
- Accommodation costs in targeted territories (for business opportunities).

- Feasibility of the project and the realism of projected costs.
- Capacity of the company to carry out the project, including experience in export.
- Significance of the anticipated outcomes from the proposed activities.
- (For promotional campaign projects) Diversity of marketing methods and coherence of the overall strategy in the targeted market, as well as the quality of selected service providers.

Prepare supporting documents
- Compile all required supporting documentation according to program requirements
- Use up-to-date templates for forms and declarations

Access the SOD@ccès portal
- Create a user profile in the SOD@ccès electronic portal, or enter your access codes if already registered
- Select the program number 40-53-02-01 for Component 2.1

Complete and upload application
- Complete the application form online
- Upload all required supporting documents as indicated
- Ensure all documents are compliant, complete, current, dated, and signed where required

Submit application through SOD@ccès portal
- Submit your application through the SOD@ccès portal at least 14 days prior to the start of activities
- Only complete and compliant applications will be reviewed

Sign financial agreement if approved
- If approved, sign a financial assistance agreement
- 70% of the grant is disbursed upon signing
7
Submit final report after project
- After activities end, submit a final report to SODEC within three months
- Report must detail the activities carried out, any modifications, project outcomes, and include a financial report
- The remaining 30% is paid after final report acceptance

- Applications must be submitted through the SOD@ccès secure electronic portal and include all required documents, which must be current, complete, dated, and signed by authorized individuals.
- The program accepts applications on a rolling basis, but submissions must be made at least 14 days before activities commence.
- Only complete and compliant applications will be considered; incomplete applications will be declared ineligible and must be resubmitted.
- A final report, including a detailed description of activities and a financial summary, is required within three months of project completion for final payment.
