Overview of the SODEXPORT — Component 2.2 program

The Export and Cultural Visibility Support Program – Music and Shows offers up to $25,000 per tour to help Quebec music and variety show companies finance international touring activities, including travel, accommodation, and equipment rental costs. The program aims to enhance the global presence of Quebec artists by supporting tours featuring at least five performances outside Quebec.

Financing terms and conditions

  • Subsidy covers 40% of round-trip economy airfare per eligible person, with a maximum of $400 for North America, $600 for Europe, and $800 for other regions.
  • Subsidy of 40% on local transportation costs or vehicle rental between the first and last show, up to $600 per person, per tour.
  • Coverage for 40% of equipment transport or rental, insurance, and work visa costs, capped at $2,000 per tour.
  • Per diem of $140 per person per day if accommodation is not provided, or $80 if accommodation is provided, for up to 30 days, including the days before, during, and after shows.
  • Total financial aid is capped at $25,000 per tour and $50,000 per artist or group per SODEC financial year.

Eligibility criteria of the SODEXPORT — Component 2.2 program

  • The applicant must be a legally constituted Quebec-based company (incorporated or cooperative) in the field of music and variety shows, active for at least two years.
  • The applicant must have achieved a minimum annual revenue of $50,000 in its most recent fiscal year and demonstrate adequate management structure, expertise, and financial resources for the proposed project.
  • The company must have a contract with at least one Quebec artist, group, or ensemble for music, or at least two Quebec artists or groups for variety shows (excluding shareholder-artists).
  • The project must be a tour outside Quebec with a minimum of five scheduled dates in at least two different venues within a 60-day period.
  • The fiscal residence of the contracted artist, group, or ensemble must be in Quebec (at least half the members for groups/ensembles).

Who is not eligible

  • Companies that do not operate in the fields of music and variety show production are not eligible for this specific component.
  • Enterprises that have not been legally constituted (ineligible legal status).
  • Companies with less than two years of activity in the industry.
  • Businesses that have generated less than $50,000 in revenue in their last fiscal year.
  • Companies whose principal place of business and center of decision-making is outside Quebec.

Eligible expenses

  • Airfare (economy class, round-trip) for eligible tour members, with a maximum contribution per ticket depending on the destination.
  • Local transportation costs between the first and last tour dates, including vehicle rental (economy class), up to a maximum contribution per person per tour.
  • Costs for transporting or renting equipment on-site, including related insurance and work visa fees, up to a maximum contribution per tour.
  • Daily per diem for accommodation and meals for each tour member (amount varies if accommodation is provided), for a maximum of 30 days, including travel and performance days.

  • Companies with their head office established in Quebec.

Eligibility criteria of the SODEXPORT — Component 2.2 program

  • Relevance of the tour in relation to the development of the company and the artist's career (including justification of venues and targeted markets, presence of a development strategy for the artist in the given territory, and associated professional support).
  • Financial risk of the tour, considering the required investments and expected revenues.
  • Realism of the costs presented in the financial plan.

How to apply to the SODEXPORT — Component 2.2 program

Validate eligibility criteria
  • Verify that your company is a Quebec-based music or variety shows company, legally constituted as a corporation or cooperative and active for at least two years
  • Ensure you meet revenue, management structure, and contractual requirements with Quebec artists or groups
  • Confirm the project meets eligibility for tour requirements (minimum tour dates, locations, contracts, etc.)

Prepare required documentation
  • Collect all required documents including signed contracts between the company and its partners (both Quebec and international)
  • Prepare the financial breakdown using the official template provided
  • Gather proof of residency, music recordings (if applicable), and tour schedule

Complete and review application
  • Sign the completed application form by an authorized individual
  • Verify that all sections are completed and accurate
  • Ensure all mandatory attachments are included

Submit application online
  • Submit your application through the secure SOD@ccès electronic portal
  • Make sure to submit at least 28 days before the start of your tour

Wait for decision
  • Wait for SODEC to review your application
  • Respond to any SODEC information or clarification requests as needed

Agreement and initial payment
  • If accepted, sign the financial assistance agreement
  • Receive the initial payment (70% of the grant amount)
  • Begin your project activities

Submit final report
  • Within three months after the tour period, submit the final report via SODEC
  • Include a financial report and details of funding received
  • Provide supporting documents if requested by SODEC
  • Receive the remaining 30% of the grant upon approval

Additional information

  • Applications can be submitted at any time, but must be filed at least 28 days before the start of the tour.
  • The maximum support per tour is $25,000, and a maximum of $50,000 per artist or group per SODEC fiscal year.
  • Total cumulative government support for a tour may not exceed 100% of the total tour costs.
