Overview
The Workforce Development Program provides Manitoba businesses with customized assistance, including funding support, to assess HR needs and implement workforce training and development plans aimed at achieving business goals. Eligible activities include developing HR strategies, internal training—particularly related to proprietary products and processes—and hiring external support to build company capacity; the funding amount is determined on a case-by-case basis.

Eligibility
- The applicant must be a private, for-profit company.
- The company must possess a Canadian Business Number.
- The business must be licensed to operate in Manitoba.

- Private, for-profit companies with a Canadian Business Number licensed to operate in Manitoba
- Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)
- Large companies, especially those in highly competitive markets requiring innovation or new product development
Eligible expenses
- Costs related to workforce training and human resources development activities.
- Expenses for internally delivered training not available from external providers.
- Expenses associated with training on proprietary products, processes, or information.
- Costs to offset productivity losses from internal trainers and employees participating in training.
- Fees for hiring external support to build company capacity and/or develop and deliver internal training.

- Companies licensed to carry on business in Manitoba.
Selection criteria
- Net economic and other benefits to the Province of Manitoba.
- Relevance and justification of training reasons and expected outcomes.
- Workforce impact of the proposed activities.
- Assessment of training-related costs.
How to apply

Assess Eligibility
- Verify if the company is a private, for-profit entity.
- Ensure the company has a Canadian Business Number and is licensed to operate in Manitoba.

Prepare Application
- Determine the human resource management needs and training requirements of the company.
- Gather information on the potential economic and other benefits to the Province of Manitoba, reasons for training, expected outcomes, costs, and workforce impact.

Submit Application
- Complete and submit the application for the Workforce Development Program.
- Applications are reviewed on a continuous intake basis.

Await Review and Feedback
Wait for a review of the application and potential feedback from the program administrators.

Implement Approved Plan
- If approved, develop and implement the workforce training and development plans as proposed in the application.
- Utilize the funding assistance received to offset productivity loss and hire external support if necessary.
