Overview
The Fonds d’initiatives locales (FIL) Village provides up to $50,000 in non-repayable funding to support projects that foster the socio-economic, cultural, and sustainable development of Montreal’s Village district. Eligible initiatives must generate a positive local impact, such as promoting cultural activities, supporting 2SLGBTQ+ businesses, or revitalizing vacant spaces.

Eligibility
- The applicant must be a legally constituted non-profit organization (NPO) or cooperative.
- The initiative must be conducted within the territory of the Village in Montréal (bounded by rue Saint-Hubert, avenue De Lorimier, boulevard René-Lévesque Est, and rue Sherbrooke Est).
- The project must have a socioeconomic, cultural, and/or sustainable impact relevant to local issues in the Village sector.
- The initiative must begin in 2025 and be developed in collaboration with local stakeholders.

- Legally constituted non-profit organizations (NPOs)
- Legally constituted cooperatives
Who is not eligible
- For-profit businesses and individuals (only non-profit organizations and legally constituted cooperatives are eligible).
- Projects of a sexual, political, or religious nature.
- Projects creating market distortion or not addressing real local needs.
Eligible geographic areas
- Projects must be carried out within the Village district of Montreal (bounded by rue Saint-Hubert, avenue De Lorimier, boulevard René-Lévesque Est, and rue Sherbrooke Est) in the Ville-Marie borough, Montreal, Quebec.
Selection criteria
- Socioeconomic, cultural, and/or sustainable impact of the project on the Village sector.
- Relevance to local issues such as community coexistence, safety, festive character, public space animation, and local identity.
- Collaboration with local stakeholders and actors.
How to apply

Check eligibility requirements
- Review eligibility criteria for organizations (NPOs or cooperatives legally incorporated)
- Verify that the project is located within the defined Village area
- Ensure the project aligns with socio-economic, cultural, or sustainability impacts
- Check that exclusions do not apply to your project

Prepare project and documents
- Prepare a project plan addressing local impact and 2025 implementation
- Collaborate with local stakeholders as required
- Gather documents such as the latest financial statements and letters patent
- Draft a provisional budget using the provided template

Attend information session
- Attend the information session in early October if necessary
- Consult with the project contact for clarifications
- Seek local support letters to add to the application

Submit complete application
- Complete the application form as provided by PME MTL Centre-Ville
- Attach all required documents (budget, financials, board list, CA resolution, etc.)
- Submit the application before November 28, 2025

Wait for project assessment
- Wait for project evaluation period (February 2026)
- Be available for any clarifications or additional information requested by the fund managers

Receive grant decision
- Receive decision between March and April 2026
- If successful, review and accept grant terms as provided
Additional information
- Local support letters are strongly recommended to strengthen the application.
- Depending on the nature of the project, certain permits or certificates may be required.
- The fund is part of the Collective Intervention Strategy for the Village of the City of Montreal.
- The analysis committee may decide not to allocate the entire budget if the projects do not meet the criteria.
