Who is eligible?

  • Alberta-based for-profit SMEs
  • Corporations, general partnerships, limited partnerships, and limited liability partnerships

Who is not eligible

  • Non-profit organizations
  • Businesses not registered in Alberta
  • Companies over the SME size limits
  • Businesses without an Alberta footprint
  • Applicants not in good standing with Alberta Innovates or its subsidiaries

Eligible expenses

  • Labour costs for project work
  • Materials used for the project
  • Travel, accommodation, and meals
  • Subcontractor fees
  • Other direct operating costs pre-approved in writing

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Costs incurred before the investment agreement is signed

  • Payments to US-based vendors without prior written consent
