Who is eligible?

  • Owners of registered agricultural operations.
  • Agricultural operators who are tenants, provided they submit a joint payment request with the property owner.
  • Agricultural operators using property under a notarial contract that gives them use and income rights without ownership, provided they submit the joint payment request – usufruitier with the owner.

Eligible expenses

  • Municipal property taxes and municipal service compensations applicable to an immovable forming part of an agricultural operation.

How to apply

  • Submit the participation request when registering the agricultural operation with MAPAQ.
  • Modify participation at any time by completing a participation request or withdrawal request for certain assessment units.
  • If the operator is a tenant, complete a joint payment request with the property owner.
  • If the operator has leased properties belonging to different owners, complete a separate joint payment request with each owner.
  • If a notarial contract gives the operator use and income rights without ownership, complete a joint payment request – usufruitier.

Additional information

  • The client file must be updated and compliant by November 30 each year to maximize credits for the upcoming tax year.
  • If the farm operator is a tenant, both the tenant and the property owner must complete a joint payment application.
  • For rented agricultural land, the lease declaration must cover the full credit year (January 1 to December 31) to be eligible for the maximum amount.
  • All eligibility conditions must be met by November 30 for the credit to be applied to the following year’s municipal tax account.
