Eligibility

Who is eligible?

Eligible expenses

  • Employment costs, including wages, benefits and other eligible expenditures for the youth participant.
  • One round trip between the youth participant’s permanent residence and workplace when the participant must travel more than 125 kilometres to the job site.
  • An accommodation or housing allowance for participants living more than 125 kilometres from their place of work or who have to pay rent.
  • Special accommodations or wrap-around supports in the workplace for an eligible youth with a disability or a youth facing barriers to employment, up to a maximum of $3,000 per participant.

  • Overall project objectives, including Canadian Heritage objectives, Official Languages objectives, and benefits for the youth, institution, community, region, or country.
  • Project planning, including a clear project description, measurable results, a job description, and a work plan with tasks and deadlines.
  • Skills development, including career-oriented skills, employability, and practical, rewarding work experience.
  • Job parameters and recruitment, including a clearly defined candidate profile, appropriate salary, a credible budget, and a planned transparent selection and interview process with measures for employment equity groups.
  • Guidance and supervision, contribution to official-language minority communities and linguistic duality, and any specific criteria established by the funds redistribution organization according to regional needs and priorities.

How to apply

  • Step 1: Create or reactivate your YCW account
    • Go to the YCW login page.
    • Create a new account or reactivate a previous profile.
  • Step 2: Complete the online application
    • Follow the step-by-step instructions in the portal.
    • Enter the information requested about your organization and position.
  • Step 3: Submit to the delivery organization
    • Send the application to the organization responsible for your region.

Processing and Agreement

  • The funds redistribution organization reviews and evaluates the application.
  • The organization acknowledges receipt of the application form within five business days of the application deadline.
  • Approved applicants receive an email confirmation and a preliminary offer within eight weeks of the application deadline, while declined applicants receive written notification within the same period.
  • If the preliminary offer is accepted, the employer receives online access to the candidate list to begin staffing YCWBOL positions.
  • Payments are made by the funds redistribution organization once the required documents specified in the contract have been received and accepted.

Additional information

  • Applications are reviewed by a delivery organization.
  • Applicants may receive a response within two months after the deadline.
  • Approved employers must sign a contract.
  • Applications submitted after the deadline are considered only if funding remains available.
