Overview

The PROMPT — GHG reduction – Academic component provides up to $500,000 per year (maximum $1.5 million over three years) to support collaborative research projects between businesses and public research centers in Quebec. The program aims to foster the development and implementation of innovative technologies and practices that significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions through the creation or improvement of products and processes.

Financing terms and conditions

  • Maximum financial assistance of $500,000 per project per year (up to a total of $1.5 million over three years).
  • Funding may cover up to 50% of the total eligible project costs.
  • Total government contributions (all sources) may not exceed 80% of eligible project expenses.
  • At least 20% of the total project cost must be financed by companies, with up to 50% of this contribution accepted as in-kind support.
  • A management fee of 5% applies to eligible expenditures.

Eligibility

  • The principal applicant must be affiliated with a Quebec-based public research institution, such as a university, an associated research center, a CEGEP, or a college technology transfer center (CCTT).
  • The project must involve at least one company or non-profit organization established in Quebec with internal production or R&D activities.
  • The initiative must show the potential to reduce at least 100,000 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent within ten years of commercialization in Quebec.
  • The project must target the development of a new product or process, or a significant improvement to an existing product or process.
  • The project must have a starting technology readiness level (TRL) between 1 and 6, justified by the academic partner.
