Overview of the PAMT — Workplace Apprenticeship program
The Workplace Apprenticeship Program (PAMT) aims to pair experienced workers (journeypersons) with less experienced co-workers (apprentices) within the same company to facilitate skill transfer through structured, hands-on training. Eligible activities include structured on-the-job training under the supervision of a qualified journeyperson, with the goal of obtaining a certificate of professional qualification or attestation of competency.
Financing terms and conditions
- This program supports businesses by funding up to 32% of the wages for training hours of apprentices (hourly caps of $21 for apprentices and $35 for trainers)
Eligible projects & activities
- On-the-job apprenticeship training within eligible trades.
- Pairing experienced workers (journeypersons) with less experienced employees to transfer skills and knowledge.
- Implementation of structured training plans customized for each trade.
- Professional qualification or competency certification activities within the workplace.

Eligibility criteria of the PAMT — Workplace Apprenticeship program
- The company must be enrolled in the Workplace Apprenticeship Program (PAMT).
- The company must employ at least one experienced worker (journeyperson) willing and qualified to train an apprentice.
- The company must provide the necessary equipment and suitable working conditions for on-the-job apprenticeship.
Who is eligible?
- Companies seeking to train apprentices in eligible trades under the List of voluntary-qualification trades (PAMT trades)
Eligible expenses
- Apprenticeship booklet provided to the apprentice.
- Journeyperson’s guide or apprenticeship campaign guide.
- Personalized support provided by a qualification agent from Services Québec during the apprenticeship.

Eligibility Check
- Consult the information sheet for the profession you wish to apply for.
- Make sure that the profession is included in the list of professions for which qualification is voluntary.

Selection of a companion
- Ensure that the chosen person has the necessary experience to train an apprentice.
- Confirm that this person is willing to take on the role of mentor.

Availability of the equipment
- Ensure that the equipment required for learning is available in the company.
- Check that the working conditions allow for the learning of the trade.

Procedure for apprentices
- Ensure that the candidate is 16 years old or older.
- Verify that the candidate is employed by a company registered with the PAMT.

- Employers benefit from access to structured training plans that are adapted to workplace realities.
- Participating journeypersons may be recognized within the company for their experience by officially taking on the role of trainer.
