Overview of the First Nations Training to Employment Program program

Fill your employment vacancies by partnering with First Nations on training and work experience initiatives. You must provide realistic work experience and a placement for project graduates following the training.

Eligible projects & activities

The Indigenous Employment Training Partnerships Program funds projects that are custom-designed to meet specific participant and industry needs. These activities aid in equipping Indigenous individuals with critical skills through structured training programs.

Eligibility criteria of the First Nations Training to Employment Program program

Eligible applicants for this grant include specific Indigenous organizations.
  • The applicant must be a First Nation either on or off reserve.
  • The applicant can be a Tribal or regional organization.
  • The applicant can be a Métis organization either on or off Settlements.
  • Métis representative groups are eligible to apply.
  • Other Indigenous organizations and employers are also eligible.

Who is eligible?

Indigenous organizations and employers including First Nations, Métis, Tribal, and regional organizations, as well as other Indigenous organizations, are eligible to apply for this grant. These entities must partner with employers and other stakeholders to design and deliver group-training projects tailored to the needs of unemployed or under-employed Indigenous individuals seeking skills training to secure long-term employment. Eligible participants are Indigenous individuals who are unemployed or under-employed and can benefit from skills training.

Eligible expenses

The Indigenous Employment Training Partnerships Program is focused on providing tailored training projects that cater to specific needs identified through collaboration between partners and industries. These projects are aimed at equipping Indigenous individuals with the necessary skills and experience for sustainable employment.

This grant is designed to assist Indigenous communities and organizations, including First Nations, Métis, and other Indigenous entities, within Alberta. It is specifically targeted at unemployed or under-employed Indigenous individuals in Alberta to provide them with skills and training for long-term employment opportunities.
