Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for the Canadian Agricultural Strategic Priorities Program (CASPP) grant, applicants must meet the following criteria: 1. Applicants must clearly demonstrate the issue facing the Canadian agriculture, agri-food, and agri-products sector. 2. The project results must benefit the sector. 3. How to apply
To apply for the Canadian Agricultural Strategic Priorities Program (CASPP) grant, follow these steps: 1. Review the program overview and the priority areas identified. 2. Prepare a project proposal that clearly demonstrates how your project addresses a national or sector-wide priority. 3. Ensure your project aligns with one or more of the priority areas, such as adaptation to new technology, environmental sustainability, strategic planning and capacity building, or emerging issues. 4. Submit your application during the open intake period when announced. 5. Await the decision on your application. 6. If approved, comply with any additional requirements or conditions specified by the program.

Grant Details
The Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) grant provides financial support of up to $1 million per project, with a maximum limit of $5 million over 5 years for each applicant. The funding can be in the form of repayable and non-repayable contributions, with cost-sharing where AAFC can cover up to 75% of the total project costs in exceptional cases. Cash contributions are required from the applicant for the remaining cost-share portion.
The program is open for applications until March 31, 2029, and projects must be completed by the same date. Eligible expenses must be shared between AAFC and the applicant, with a focus on innovation, sector priorities, and public safety concerns to benefit Canadians.
