Who is eligible?
To be eligible for the Business Development sub-component of the CBF, a publishing firm must meet specific criteria based on the type of project:- Publishing internships: Firms with total sales of own titles under $1 million that received funding from the Publishing Support sub-component of the CBF in 2023-2024; or firms with total sales under $1 million that were recipients of the Canada Council for the Arts' Supporting Artistic Practice – Literary Publishers program.
- Technology internships: Firms that received funding from the Publishing Support sub-component of the CBF in 2023-2024.
- Business planning: Firms that received funding from either the Publishing Support sub-component of the CBF in 2023-2024 or the Canada Council for the Arts' Supporting Artistic Practice – Literary Publishers program.
Who is not eligible
Due to the specific focus of the Business Development sub-component of the CBF, certain companies are not eligible for this grant. The restrictions ensure that funding supports specific strategic sectors aligned with the goals of promoting Canadian-authored books.
