Overview

The "Arts et lettres de Montréal – Territorial partnership – Ecoresponsibility and sharing" grant provides up to $30,000 to support non-profit professional arts organizations on the Island of Montreal for projects focused on eco-responsibility and resource sharing. Eligible activities include the creation, production, dissemination, and promotion of environmentally responsible artistic projects, as well as collaborations for shared resources and services between organizations.

Financing terms and conditions

  • Maximum funding amount of $30,000 per project.
  • The grant can cover up to 80% of the total eligible project costs.
  • The budget must include a financial or in-kind contribution from project partners to cover the remaining costs.
  • No financial assistance will be granted for expenses already supported by another program from the Conseil or any other organization.

  • Production of artworks or performances using eco-design approaches, such as sustainable scenography, sets, and costumes.
  • Creation or dissemination of artistic works that engage eco-design expertise for events or exhibitions.

Eligibility

  • The applicant must be a legally constituted non-profit professional arts organization.
  • The organization must have its head office located on the territory of the Island of Montreal.
  • The organization must be active in at least one of the following fields: circus arts, multidisciplinary arts, digital arts, visual arts, cinema and video, storytelling, dance, literature, crafts, music, architectural research, or theatre.
  • The organization must have conducted professional artistic activities for at least one year and be able to present an activity, as well as a financial report for a completed fiscal year.
  • The project must demonstrate a formal partnership and align with at least one of the program's eco-responsibility or resource-sharing objectives.

  • Organizations with funding from the ministère de la Culture et des Communications (MCC) or the Société de développement des entreprises culturelles (SODEC).
  • Organizations devoted to teaching, education, and professional training.
  • Public or parapublic organizations acting as government agencies.
  • Projects that have already been completed by the application deadline.
  • Organizations applying for the start-up of a business or creation workshop for strictly commercial purposes.

Eligible expenses

  • Artist fees and royalties.
  • Professional fees for contractors, collaborators, consultants, technicians, and other specialists contributing expertise to the project.
  • Travel expenses directly related to the project.
  • Accommodation and meal costs for project-related stays.
  • Expenses related to outreach and dissemination activities, including promotion and advertising costs.
  • Equipment rental costs.
  • Transportation costs for equipment.
  • Purchase of specialized equipment essential to the project, only if it cannot be rented or if the purchase cost is less than rental; supporting documents required.

  • Organizations with their head office located on the territory of the Island of Montréal.

  • Quality of the project.
  • Impact of the project, including effects on the community or territory.
  • Consideration given to the remuneration of artists and cultural workers, including payment of royalties, fees, and honoraria where applicable.
  • For joint projects: structural effects and potential sustainability of the partnership.
  • Financial balance and realism of budget forecasts.

  • Step 2: Complete the Application FormAccess the application form via "Mon dossier CALQ" online portal.
  • Fill out the form with comprehensive information about your project, objectives, expected outcomes, and budget details.
  • Step 3: Attach Required DocumentationAttach supporting documents as specified in the application form (project description, budget, proof of nonprofit status, partner involvement, etc.).
  • Step 4: Submit the ApplicationSubmit the completed application and all attachments online through "Mon dossier CALQ."
  • If the online portal is unavailable or inaccessible, applications can be submitted via WeTransfer following instructions in the application form.
  • Ensure submission is completed prior to the specified deadline (e.g., May 1, 2025).
  • Step 5: Confirmation and TrackingAfter submission, an email confirmation of receipt is sent by the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec.
  • Applicants registered to "Mon dossier CALQ" can track the progress of their application online.
  • Step 6: Await Results and Follow UpDecisions are communicated within three to four months after the application deadline.
  • If approved, receive a letter of agreement outlining grant terms and conditions.
  • If refused, receive written notification with reasons for inadmissibility if applicable.
