Eligibility
- The applicant must be a primary producer responsible for input costs for a crop, bee, or livestock operation generating at least $25,000 in annual farm commodities.
- The applicant must not be a landlord whose only interest is land ownership.
- The applicant must hold a valid and current Alberta Environmental Farm Plan (EFP) certificate or provide an EFP completion letter.

- Primary producers responsible for bee operations
- Primary producers responsible for livestock operations
Who is not eligible
- Landlords whose only interest in a crop, bee, or livestock operation is ownership of the land.
- Applicants who produce less than $25,000 worth of farm commodities annually.
- Entities engaging in barter or exchange transactions related to the funded project.
- Businesses attempting to claim expenses incurred prior to April 1, 2023.
- Transactions between persons related by blood, marriage, adoption, common-law relationships, or close-business ties are not eligible for funding.
Eligible expenses
- Purchase of grain handling system components that significantly improve energy efficiency over standard configuration.
- Factory options on new grain handling equipment that contribute to greater energy efficiency.
- Retrofits installed on existing grain handling equipment that provide significant energy efficiency improvements.
- Installation and labour costs, but only as part of an eligible pipeline-to-grain-dryer project.

Yes, there are evaluation and selection criteria for this grant:
- Applicant must be a Primary Producer responsible for input costs for a crop, bee, or livestock operation producing at least $25,000 worth of farm commodities annually.
- Applicant must have a valid and current Alberta Environmental Farm Plan (EFP) certificate or completion letter.
- Grain handling system components should offer significant energy efficiency improvements.
- All invoices must be dated after April 1, 2023, and proof of payment must be provided.

Additional information
- The application intake for the program is currently closed and will resume in Year 2 of the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership; updates will be provided to Sustainable CAP subscribers.
- Invoices must be under the legal name stated on the application and must be dated after April 1, 2023.
- The program may update eligible items on the Funding List; applicants should verify the list before applying.
- Cash payments require an official company voucher in addition to proof of payment to be considered eligible.
