Activities funded
- Any level of undergraduate studies with a minor or major in film and video arts
- A recognized program or appropriate mentorship, workshop, master class, or course with a focus on film and video art
Documents Needed
- A letter by the applicant of no more than two pages
- A resume or curriculum vitae of no more than two pages
- A detailed description of the applicant's chosen film and video arts educational or training program(s), including proof of acceptance and a schedule if accepted into a specific course, or a preferred choice with two alternate program choices if not accepted
- A scanned copy of one proof of age document, a current and signed letter of reference, and the Applicant Agreement e-signed in GATE Front Office
- If applicable, a complete or excerpted screenplay of no more than 15 pages in standard script format, or a copy of a completed film and video work

- International students enrolled in a Canadian program or Canadian institution not located in Canada
- Non-Canadian students enrolled and studying via the Internet or through online courses

How to apply
- Apply through the GATE Front Office online application system
- First-time applicants must email registrationafa@gov.ab.ca at least five business days before the application deadline to obtain login information, and include their legal name, the funding opportunity, and their email address
- Applicants under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian e-sign the Applicant Agreement in GATE Front Office as the designate for the scholarship
- Complete the required online forms and upload the requested attachments in GATE Front Office
- Submit the application no later than 11:59 p.m. Mountain Time on the deadline date; if the deadline falls on a statutory holiday or weekend, it is extended until the next working day
Processing and Agreement
- Your submitted application will show as Complete in GATE Front Office and is under review by Arts Development staff
- If you need to update contact information on your application, you must contact your program consultant
