How to apply
- If this is your first application, contact program staff at least three months before the deadline for a preliminary eligibility assessment.
- Apply through the GATE Front Office online application system.
- First-time applicants must request a GATE Front Office username and password at least five business days before the deadline by completing the GATE Front Office Registration form and emailing it to registrationAFA@gov.ab.ca.
- Complete the GATE Front Office online forms, including the Application Contact List, organization street and mailing address, registration details, CADAC number, Organization Applicant Agreement, current board list, Community Derived Revenue Calculation form, and Diligence Questionnaire.
- Upload the required attachments to your online GATE Front Office submission.
- Submit the application no later than 11:59 p.m. Mountain Time on the deadline date; if the deadline falls on a statutory holiday or weekend, it is extended until the next working day.
Processing and Agreement
- Organizations are reviewed on an annual basis through a healthy organization assessment by department staff.
- If the AFA considers an organization viable but has concerns about its longer-term capacity to remain in good standing, it will provide the organization with a copy of the policy and written notice of the concerns.
- The organization must provide a plan, approved by its board, to address the concerns and a time frame to deliver the plan to the AFA.
- Staff review the plan and the AFA provides written notice of the time frame for the organization to address the concerns.
