Eligible expenses
- Artist, technician, and commission fees
- Production, promotion, and publicity costs
- Travel, transportation, and accommodation
- Mentorship, tuition, royalties, and contract fees
- Basic living or subsistence expenses, up to $3,000 per month
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Capital purchases, construction, or renovations
- Recreational training projects
- Course components within a program of study
- Ongoing activity contracts or similar recurring work
- Expenses incurred before application submission, including grant writer fees

Processing and Agreement
- Applications are reviewed by an expert panel.
- Panel recommendations go to the AFA board for final approval.
- Successful applicants are notified after board approval, usually in four to six months.
- Funding is not guaranteed for any project.
- Final reporting is required after the project.

- Deadline dates: September 1, 2026 and March 1, 2027.
- Applications are accepted only through the GATE Front Office system.
- Successful recipients are generally notified four to six months after the deadline.
