  • Mentorship, tuition, royalties, and contract fees
  • Basic living or subsistence expenses, up to $3,000 per month

  • Expenses incurred before application submission, including grant writer fees

How to apply

  • Step 1: Register in GATE
    • First-time applicants request a username and password by email.
    • Provide your legal name, funding opportunity, and email address.
  • Step 2: Complete the online application
    • Fill in the required forms in GATE Front Office.
    • Include project details, co-owners, expenses, and revenues.
  • Step 3: Upload support material
    • Attach the required documents and project support material.
    • Use the email or mail options for files that cannot be uploaded.
  • Step 4: Submit before the deadline
    • Send the application through GATE by 11:59 p.m. Mountain Time.
    • Ensure the application is complete before submission.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are reviewed by an expert panel.
  • Panel recommendations go to the AFA board for final approval.
  • Successful applicants are notified after board approval, usually in four to six months.
  • Funding is not guaranteed for any project.
  • Final reporting is required after the project.
