Eligibility

Who is eligible?

Eligible expenses

  • Staff salaries and benefits, professional fees, and translation costs
  • Asset, equipment, and infrastructure preparation, installation, and retrofit costs
  • Low-carbon fuel purchases, licenses, permits, rents, leases, and insurance
  • Indigenous consultation costs and eligible travel expenses
  • Administrative costs, up to 15% of total project costs

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Rebatable taxes such as PST, GST, or HST
  • Land and building purchases, including related real estate fees
  • Loan interest and financing charges
  • Costs already reimbursed by another federal program
  • Costs incurred before approval or after the final claim date

How to apply

  • Step 1: Review the applicant guide and program requirements
    • Read the program guide before preparing your application.
    • Confirm that your project matches the funding objective and eligible activities.
  • Step 2: Prepare the application package
    • Complete the required templates for the project proposal and budget.
    • Include the project description, applicant information, and required annexes.
    • Ensure the application is signed, complete, and accurate.
  • Step 3: Submit by email

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are reviewed after submission and applicants are informed of the funding decision.

  • A risk assessment is completed before the funding agreement is signed.
  • The funding agreement sets the project scope, reporting requirements, and payment structure.
  • No reimbursements are paid until the funding agreement is signed and its requirements are met.
