Overview of the Roulez Vert — Used vehicle rebate program

Get up to $3,500 to purchase an all-electric, used vehicle for your business, from a list of eligible vehicles.

Financing terms and conditions

  • Amount of financial aid: $2,000 from the Government of Quebec when purchasing an eligible used electric vehicle in 2025.
  • The exact amount of the rebate and eligibility are determined based on the date of registration of the vehicle in the name of the buyer.
  • Applicable taxes are calculated on the price of the vehicle before the application of the government grant.
  • The amounts of financial aid for electric vehicles will be subject to a gradual reduction in 2025 and 2026.

Eligibility criteria of the Roulez Vert — Used vehicle rebate program

  • The applicant must be a business registered in the Registraire des entreprises and possess an establishment in Québec.
  • The used electric vehicle must be purchased from a car dealer that maintains an establishment in Québec.
  • The vehicle must be included on the list of eligible used electric vehicles.
  • The vehicle must have a model year between one and four years old (for vehicles registered since April 18, 2023).
  • The vehicle must be all-electric or hydrogen-powered, with a battery capacity of at least 8 kWh.
  • The equivalent new vehicle’s MSRP must be less than $65,000.
  • Proof of inspection evaluating the battery’s residual capacity must be submitted with the application.
  • The vehicle must be registered in Québec for at least 24 months if registered in the name of a car dealer, or at least 36 months if acquired for a vehicle fleet comprising three or more vehicles.
  • The business must comply with all program conditions.

Who is not eligible

  • Companies acquiring a used electric vehicle for the purpose of reselling or long-term leasing at the time of the transaction.
  • Businesses involved in transactions or donations between a business and its shareholders or directors.
  • Organizations wishing to purchase vehicles that have been rebuilt according to the full vehicle history report.
  • Entities interested in vehicles that have been converted to electric motorization.
  • Any company seeking to acquire vehicles that were withdrawn at the written request of the manufacturer from the list of eligible used vehicles.

Eligibility criteria of the Roulez Vert — Used vehicle rebate program

Yes, there are evaluation and selection criteria for this grant.
  • Purchased from a Québec car dealer
  • Vehicle must come from outside Québec or be registered in Québec for the first time
  • Vehicle must not have been subject to a previous new or used vehicle rebate under the Roulez vert program
  • Must be on the list of eligible used electric vehicles (specific model year and version)
  • Battery of the vehicle must have a capacity of 8 kWh or more
  • Vehicle’s MSRP for the new equivalent must be less than $65,000
  • Vehicle must be between one and four years old in relation to their model year
  • Proof of inspection of the vehicle’s battery capacity must be submitted
  • Vehicle must remain registered in Québec for at least 12 months (general) and up to 36 months (specific cases)

How to apply to the Roulez Vert — Used vehicle rebate program

Eligibility Check
  • Consult the list of eligible used electric vehicles and check that the desired model and year are included.
  • Make sure that the vehicle has not already received a subsidy for a new or used vehicle.

Vehicle Purchase
  • Purchase the vehicle from an established automobile dealer in Quebec.
  • Obtain proof of inspection showing the battery's remaining capacity.

Vehicle registration
Register the vehicle in your name for a minimum period according to the intended use (12 months for personal use).

Submission of the request
Use the online services of the program to submit your grant application along with all required documents.

Grant Confirmation
Once approved, the grant can be applied directly by the dealer on the purchase contract or be received after a few weeks.

Additional information

  • The Roulez vert program will be temporarily suspended from February 1, 2025, to March 31, 2025. Vehicles registered during this suspension period are not eligible for financial assistance.
  • The list of eligible used electric vehicles is updated on January 1 and September 15 each year, allowing for the addition of newly marketed models.
  • The reduction in financial assistance amounts is ongoing, with lower rebates planned for 2025 and 2026. Applicants should verify the current value and planned reductions.
  • The applicable taxes are calculated on the vehicle’s price before the government rebate is deducted.
  • The date of registration in the applicant's name determines eligibility and the amount of the rebate, regardless of the purchase date.
  • If the rebate is applied by the dealer, administration fees should not be charged for this process. Applicants can alternatively refuse the dealer’s processing and apply online themselves.
  • The Québec government reserves the right to modify the Roulez vert program’s eligibility requirements and rebate amounts at any time.
  • Non-compliance with program conditions may lead to the requirement to repay any grant funds received.
