  • The applicant must hold the rights to exploit the sound recording in Canada.
  • The applicant and the targeted artist must be Canadian citizens.
  • The sound recording must be in line with Canadian content and Francophone standards.
  • The recording must have an agreement with a Canadian company for physical or digital distribution.
  • The sound recording must include at least six tracks or a minimum of twenty minutes of musical content.
  • For projects not financed during production, the sound recording must have been commercialized for no more than 12 months prior to the application.
  • The applicant must not be in default of payment.
  • For businesses, applicants must provide up-to-date master file documents, including financial statements compliant with current standards.
  • Projects cannot be submitted simultaneously to FACTOR and Musicaction, with English music projects directed to FACTOR.
  • Reissues and compilations are ineligible; however, re-recordings are admissible.

Self-producing artists, Canadian Francophone artists, record labels, and sound recording producers who hold the exploitation rights for the sound recording in Canada can apply. The applicant can submit one project at a time and have only one ongoing project accepted by Musicaction. There is no project limit per registration for a company with two associated Canadian artists, excluding any artist shareholder or associate of the company.

  • Step 1: Determine Eligibility
    • Ensure the applicant is an independent artist, Canadian Francophonie artist, record label, or sound recording producer with rights in Canada.
    • Verify that the project is not already funded under another initiative by Musicaction.
    • Confirm eligibility by meeting nationality and content requirements and lack of significant legal or contractual limitations.
  • Step 2: Prepare Application Documents
    • Complete the designated application form.
    • Gather required supporting documents including management contracts, service contracts, and distribution agreements.
    • Prepare any necessary visuals or video proposals.
    • Ensure all documents are aligned with guidelines and requirements detailed by Musicaction.
  • Step 3: Compile and Submit Application
    • Name the application file appropriately (Applicant – Artist – CN).
    • Submit the complete electronic application and attachments to the designated email address: inscription@musicaction.ca.
  • Step 4: Post-Submission Responsibilities
    • For accepted projects, adjust and maintain documentation and budgeting as required.
    • Ensure compliance with acknowledgment and logo display requirements as per Musicaction’s policy.

    • Prepare and submit a completion report including financial statements and activity reports at the end of the project phase.
    • Retain copies of all invoices and proof of payments for verification.
