Activities funded

  • Organization and delivery of a festival or event in Quebec with a defined theme and activity program.
  • Support for a specific component of a festival or event aimed at its development and growth.

Documents Needed

  • Completed and signed financial assistance application form submitted in Excel format.
  • Upcoming event program or draft program.
  • Most recent event report, if available.
  • Most recent financial statements, including income-expense for the event or equivalent document for municipal and Indigenous entities.
  • Projected income-expense budget for the upcoming event and confirmations of financial partners, if available.

Eligibility

  • Applicant must be a legally constituted tourism enterprise or eligible public or Indigenous body doing business in Quebec.
  • Organization must be located in Mauricie and target a significantly tourist clientele.
  • Festival or event must generate significant visitor traffic (excursionists and tourists) and animate the destination.
  • Applicant must be compliant with applicable laws and regulations, including tourism accommodation registration where relevant.
  • Previous subsidy commitments to program partners must have been respected, where applicable.

Who is eligible?

  • For-profit tourism enterprises.
  • Non-profit tourism organizations.
  • Tourism cooperatives.
  • Municipal entities.
  • Recognized Indigenous communities, nations, and Indigenous tourism organizations or enterprises.

Who is not eligible

  • State-owned corporations and departments or agencies of the Governments of Quebec and Canada.
  • Applicants listed in the Register of enterprises ineligible for public contracts.
  • Enterprises not compliant with the Office québécois de la langue française francization process when applicable.

Eligible expenses

  • Administration costs directly related to the festival or event.
  • Programming expenses.
  • Promotion, marketing and communication costs.
  • Site and facilities management expenses.
  • Costs of products for resale, travel expenses within public sector scales, overhead, salaries and benefits linked to the event, and audited in-kind sponsorships of goods and services (up to 50% of total eligible costs).

Selection criteria

  • Alignment of the project with EPRTNT 2025-2027 objectives and regional priorities.
  • Structuring impact, including attraction power, reach, economic spin-offs, partnerships and season extension.
  • Innovative character and quality of concept, products and services.
  • Financial structure and soundness, including promoter contribution, realism of financial data and community support.
  • Pertinence and feasibility, including tourist clientele, market and competition analysis, marketing strategy, promoter expertise, development of Mauricie’s attractiveness and integration of sustainable development principles.

Processing and Agreement

  • Projects are submitted according to scheduled calls for projects and checked for eligibility and completeness by Tourisme Mauricie.
  • Eligible projects undergo analysis of pertinence and financial viability, with recommendations made to the management committee.
  • The management committee selects projects and issues recommendations, followed by a formal announcement letter to promoters.
  • Approved projects must sign a subsidy agreement setting out payment terms and obligations.

Additional information

  • Projects must align with regional objectives to strengthen Mauricie’s image as a distinctive, four-season tourist destination.
  • Applications are received through periodic calls for projects; late or incomplete files are postponed to a later intake.
  • Selected projects are formalized through a subsidy agreement outlining payment conditions and obligations.
  • Projects must be completed within 24 months of the subsidy announcement.
