Overview

This program provides non-repayable financial support of up to $25,000 to tourism organizations in Lanaudière for festivals and events. Funding supports the organization or growth of tourism events that attract significant visitor traffic and contribute to regional, innovative and sustainable tourism development.

Activities funded

  • Organization and delivery of a festival or event considered regionally relevant as a tourism product.
  • Support to a specific aspect of a festival or event aimed at its development and growth.
  • Tourism festivals and events that generate significant attendance from excursionists and tourists and animate the destination.

Documents Needed

  • Duly completed and signed application form (Excel format)
  • Program or draft program of the upcoming event
  • Most recent event report, if available
  • Most recent financial statements, including revenue and expenses for the event
  • Forecast revenue and expense budget for the upcoming event
  • Written confirmations from financial partners, if available
  • Board resolution (or equivalent) authorizing the signatory to submit the application
  • OQLF attestation or certificate of francization compliance, where required
  • Proof of compliance or commitment to the Qualité-Sécurité d’Aventure Écotourisme Québec program, for nature and adventure tourism enterprises
  • Indigenous certificate or certification confirming Indigenous status of the organization, if applicable

Eligibility

  • Be a legally constituted organization under Quebec or Canadian law and conduct business in Quebec.
  • Belong to an eligible category: for-profit or non-profit tourism organization, cooperative, municipal entity, Indigenous community, organization or tourism enterprise, or a grouping of these clients.
  • Operate in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including holding a valid registration number for tourist accommodation establishments where relevant.
  • For nature and adventure tourism enterprises, comply with or commit to the Qualité-Sécurité program of Aventure Écotourisme Québec.
  • Have fulfilled prior commitments to funding partners in the case of previous subsidies from this agreement.

  • Tourism businesses (for-profit organizations).
  • Tourism non-profit organizations.
  • Tourism cooperatives.
  • Municipal entities in the tourism sector.
  • Indigenous communities, nations, tourism organizations and enterprises, and groupings of these clients.

Who is not eligible

  • Crown corporations, ministries and agencies of the Governments of Quebec and Canada.
  • Applicants listed in the Register of enterprises ineligible for public contracts.
  • Enterprises that are not compliant with the francization process of the Office québécois de la langue française.

Eligible expenses

  • Administration costs related to the supported edition or specific aspect of the event.
  • Programming expenses for activities included in the festival or event.
  • Promotion, marketing and communication costs.
  • Site and facilities management fees.
  • Costs of products intended for resale during the event.
  • Travel expenses within public sector rates, general expenses, salaries and benefits of promoter staff linked to the event.
  • Audited sponsorships in goods and services, up to 50% of total eligible costs.

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Costs of activities not directly related to holding and organizing the event.
  • Capital expenditures tied to acquiring equipment (depreciation).
  • Working capital, debt service, operating losses, capital losses and capital buybacks.
  • Expenses for regulatory compliance, asset maintenance, upgrades to standards and routine maintenance.
  • Non-recoverable taxes where a refund is available, non-audited in-kind or service contributions, asset transfers, financing fees, lobbyist remuneration, cost overruns, legal fees and purchase of motorized transport not dedicated to visitor experience.

Eligible geographic areas

  • Tourism enterprises located in the Lanaudière region of Quebec.
  • Projects produced and held in Quebec.

Selection criteria

  • Alignment of the project with the objectives of the EPRTNT 2025-2027.
  • Structuring impact, including attraction power, project reach, economic spin-offs, partnerships, job creation and season extension.
  • Innovative character and quality of concept, products and services.
  • Sound financial structure and project relevance in terms of target tourism clientele, market, competition, offer quality, marketing strategy and networking.
  • Feasibility of the project and integration of sustainable development principles, including innovative, environmental, social and eco-responsible components.

  • Step 1: Request Application Form
    • Contact Tourisme Lanaudière by email at aidefinanciere@lanaudiere.ca to obtain the official financial assistance application form.
  • Step 2: Complete Application Form
    • Fill in the required information in the Excel application form.
    • Prepare all supporting documents listed as required for the application.
  • Step 3: Submit Application by Email
    • Send the completed and signed form along with all required documents by email to aidefinanciere@lanaudiere.ca before the stated deadline.

Additional information

  • Applications must be submitted by email using the official form requested from Tourisme Lanaudière.
  • Projects that clearly integrate sustainable development and eco-responsible practices receive particular attention.
  • Organizations with 25 or more employees over 6 months must provide proof of compliance with the Quebec francization process.
  • For for-profit organizations receiving $100,000 or more and having over 100 employees, an employment equity program may be required.
