Eligibility

Eligibility for this grant is determined by specific requirements related to the child's needs and family situation.

  • Children must require additional supervision, guidance, or assistance as determined by a qualified professional.
  • Children must be referred by a qualified professional who is autonomous from the facility, has a demonstrated knowledge of the child and the specific needs, and is available to provide consultation and support to the facility and family.
  • The child's parent/guardian must consent to the facility making the application on behalf of their child and should be involved in the development of programming for their child.
  • For Enhanced Accessibility funding, the parent/guardian(s) must be employed or enrolled in a formal education program.
  • Children in foster care are not eligible for Enhanced Accessibility grant funding.

Who is eligible?

Eligible applicants for the Child Care Inclusion Program grants include child care centres and licensed child care homes that are providing care for children with diverse needs. Specific grants available under this program have different eligibility requirements that applicants must meet:- Individual Inclusion Grant: Available to child care facilities to assist in supervising children with diverse needs. Grants are categorized into three levels, with Level 1 providing minimal support up to a maximum of $200/month and Level 3 providing the most significant support at $300/month.- Enhanced Accessibility Grant: Available for children with exceptionally high diverse needs, requiring substantial levels of additional supervision and support.- Adapted Equipment Grant: Available to cover the costs of buying equipment adapted to the child's needs, with grants ranging from $600 to $1,200 per year, depending on circumstances.- Training and Resource Grant: Available to help cover costs associated with training child care professionals and acquiring resources, with funding available up to $100 per year or $200 for Enhanced Accessibility.In each case, grants are approved for a maximum period of one year and require re-application before expiry, coupled with a review of the existing program.

How to apply

Conduct Initial Meeting

  • Arrange a meeting with the team which includes parent(s)/guardian(s), supporting professional(s), child care facility representative, Early Learning and Child Care Consultant, and other relevant individuals.
  • Discuss the child's needs and develop a plan to address them.
  • Define roles and responsibilities of each team member.

Prepare Application Documentation

  • Complete required portions of the application form by parent(s)/guardian(s), supporting professional, and child care facility.
  • Gather necessary background information and documentation about the child.
  • Develop specific supports and program goals required to meet the child's needs.

Determine Funding Level

Assess the child’s needs to determine the appropriate level of funding required (Individual Inclusion Grant or Enhanced Accessibility Grant).

Submit Application

  • Submit the completed application form and all supporting documents to the Early Learning and Child Care Consultant.
  • Ensure all documentation accurately reflects the need for funding and support.

Await Confirmation and Approval

  • Await notification from the Early Learning and Child Care Consultant regarding the status of the application.
  • Participate in the development of the Personal Program Plan if approved.
