Who is eligible?
- Mi’kmaq First Nations and other Indigenous groups
- Agricultural producers
Who is not eligible
- Businesses that are not new agricultural producers
- Applicants who do not meet the Prince Edward Island residency requirement
- Applicants whose activities are limited to aquaponic, aquaculture, seaweed, fish, or seafood production and processing
Eligible expenses
- Program advisor coaching and facilitation
- Business or succession planning support
- On-farm improvement project costs
- Pre-approved training and skills development
- Analytical laboratory testing and BRM participation costs
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Land and building purchases
- Certificate-based training, except short certificates
- Normal operating and maintenance activities
- Activities that do not directly benefit the sector
- Activities related to aquaponics, aquaculture, seaweed, fish, and seafood production and processing, except certain marketing and traceability activities
- Expenses incurred before the application date

Processing and Agreement
- Applications are reviewed after submission by the Department of Agriculture
- Some on-farm projects must be reviewed by the Program Manager or Review Committee before submission
- Applicants are notified whether the project is approved
- Approved projects must be completed within the funding agreement timeframe
- Recipients must keep records and submit a claim package after project completion
Additional information
- Projects approved under Sustainable CAP may be eligible for additional funding if they increase public trust.
- Program metrics are collected and reported on an ongoing basis.
- The program will be available until yearly funds are fully allocated.
- Under-represented groups were considered in program development, including Indigenous Peoples, women, youth, and persons with disabilities.
