Who is eligible?
- PEI beekeepers
- Mi’kmaq First Nations and other Indigenous organizations
- Agriculture industry organizations, clubs, and associations
- Provincial and municipal governments
- Other applicants approved by the Program Review Committee
Who is not eligible
- Applicants without a current Premise Identification Number
- Applicants who do not provide honeybee colonies for pollination within PEI
- Applicants without the required beekeeping experience, training, or qualified assistance
- Applicants who are not in good standing with the PEI Beekeepers Association
- Applicants who have repeatedly used the program without expanding colony numbers
Eligible expenses
- Honeybee queens, nucleus colonies, splits, and colonies for expansion
- Queen-rearing, monitoring, and pest-detection equipment
- Beekeeping technology and equipment for colony health and overwintering
- Research costs directly tied to industry-priority bee research
- Hiveware, frames, hive boxes, and honey extraction/value-added processing equipment
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Purchase or sale of established colonies or equipment between qualifying applicants, except in limited exit-scenario cases
- Replacement bees for winterkilled colonies, except domestically purchased queen bees
- Pest and disease treatments
- Buildings and structures
- In-kind contributions, wages, labour, overhead, administration, and ongoing operating or maintenance costs

Processing and Agreement
- Applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis, with merit and impact considered
- Projects may be funded below the maximum contribution rate depending on assessment and available funding
- If the project is not approved, the applicant is responsible for all incurred costs
- Approved projects must be completed within the timeframe set out in the funding agreement

- All approved projects must include information sharing or knowledge transfer.
- Recipients must have a current Premise Identification Number.
- Applications are assessed on a first-come, first-served basis, as well as merit and impact.
- Projects approved under Sustainable CAP may receive additional funding if they build public trust.
