Eligibility
Who is eligible?
The Agriculture Research and Innovation Program is designed to support a diversity of organizations within the agriculture sector in Prince Edward Island (PEI), Canada. Eligible applicants for the program include: - Mi’kmaq First Nations and other Indigenous groups- Agricultural producers- Small to medium-sized agri-businesses- Agriculture industry organizations, clubs, and associations- Public, private, and academic research bodies- Municipal and provincial governments- Other parties as approved by the relevant program review committee.Who is not eligible
The grant has specific exclusions regarding certain industries and activities, although the eligible recipients are broadly defined for both sub-programs. The focus is mainly on providing benefit to the agriculture sector.
- Activities related to aquaponic food production, or to aquaculture, seaweed, fish, and seafood production and processing, except for international marketing and traceability.
- Non-arms-length transactions and activities that do not provide a direct benefit to the agriculture sector are also excluded.
- Normal and on-going operating and maintenance activities are not eligible for funding.

The Agriculture Research and Innovation Program is designed to enhance the PEI agriculture industry's competitiveness and productivity through short-term applied research projects.
