Overview

The Estrie — FRR Component 1 grant provides up to $758,500 in funding to support projects that advance environmental protection, climate change adaptation, tourism development, and community well-being in the Estrie region. Eligible activities include the preservation of natural habitats, promotion of sustainable tourism, enhancement of community services, and initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions or support vulnerable populations.

Financing terms and conditions

  • Total funding available: $758,500 for projects focused on environmental and climate change adaptation; $600,000 for projects related to sustainable tourism; $1,025,500 for projects improving quality of life and local services.
  • Minimum grant amount per project: $100,000.
  • Non-profit organizations are eligible for up to 80% of eligible project expenses.
  • Other promoters are eligible for up to 50% of eligible project expenses.
  • Projects related to social or community development may receive up to 100% coverage of eligible expenses if they directly improve the living environment of a community in a recognized development theme.

Eligibility

  • The project must generate benefits in at least two RCMs (MRC) or involve an Indigenous community located in Estrie.
  • Alternatively, the project can be part of a group of regional projects with the same objective and targeting one of the specified priorities.
  • The project must address at least one of the designated regional priorities, such as environmental protection and adaptation to climate change, sustainable tourism and the enhancement of trails, or the vitality of living environments and services for local communities.

Who is eligible?

  • Non-profit organizations (OBNL)
  • Other types of promoters (unspecified organizations eligible under program rules)

Eligible geographic areas

  • Projects with impacts in at least two MRCs (regional county municipalities) in the Estrie region, Quebec.
  • Projects involving an Indigenous community present in Estrie, Quebec.

Selection criteria

  • Contribution to at least one of the specified regional priorities or targets (such as protection of natural environments, sustainable tourism, or vitality of living environments).
  • Potential to generate benefits in at least two regional county municipalities (MRCs) or an Indigenous community in Estrie, or to be part of a set of regional projects with a common goal.
  • Alignment with one or more clearly defined project targets (such as environmental protection, sustainable water management, greenhouse gas reduction, adaptation to climate change, enhancement of trails, or improved local services).
