The Energy Efficiency Program—Efficient Construction and Renovation by Énergir offers financial incentives up to $325,000 to clients to support new energy-efficient building constructions, encouraging cost reduction and increased resale value through reduced natural gas consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. Eligible activities include the construction of new buildings, major renovations affecting architecture and essential systems, and projects involving natural gas heating for spaces or water heating.

grant_single_labels|terms_and_conditions

This grant provides specific financing modalities designed to incentivize energy-efficient construction practices. These modalities are structured to optimize energy savings and gas natural consumption reduction.
• The financial aid provided is calculated at $5.00 per cubic meter of natural gas saved.
• The maximum financial aid available per natural gas account number is $325,000.
• Financial aid will not exceed 75% of the investment's additional costs related to energy efficiency measures.
• Integrated design costs are now recognized as eligible additional investment costs.
• Financial aid for energy simulations is capped at $15,000 or 75% of the simulation costs, whichever is lower.
• Requests for financial aid under $5,000 are not eligible, excluding simulation costs.
• The client's cost share should represent 25% of the project costs when other organizational contributions are deduced.
• Any financial aid received from other energy distributors or government bodies must be declared and will affect the total financial aid provided by Énergir for the project.

grant_single_labels|projects

This grant supports energy-efficient construction and renovation projects designed to decrease natural gas consumption and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The eligible projects aim to enhance the energy performance of new buildings in multiple sectors.
• Construction of a new energy-efficient building.
• Major renovation projects that include an overhaul of architectural, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and lighting systems.
• Expansion of existing buildings with energy-efficient designs.

grant_single_labels|admissibility

Eligibility for this grant is determined by specific requirements related to the applicant's profile and proposed project characteristics.
• The applicant must be a current Énergir client or in process of becoming one.
• The building project must be new, including new construction, extension of an existing building, or major renovation projects.
• The building must be heated with natural gas.
• Energy calculations must be performed by a registered firm with specialized engineers in energy efficiency.
• The new construction project must be modeled using an approved simulation tool such as eQuest, EnergyPlus, or IESVE.
• The application for financial assistance must be submitted to Énergir before the project's construction begins.
• Energy savings from substituting natural gas with another energy form are excluded from eligibility.
• Heat recovery from sources other than natural gas is accepted under certain conditions.
• Energy savings recognized in another program offered by Énergir must be deducted from the total savings of this program.
• The project must include all required documentation demanded by Énergir.
• The new construction project will be verified by an independent third party.

grant_eligibility_criteria|who_can_apply

This grant is designed for Énergir's existing or prospective clients who are planning to construct new, energy-efficient buildings. Eligible clients must belong to specific sectors and fulfill particular project requirements to qualify for financial assistance.
• Current or prospective clients of Énergir within the commercial, multi-residential (four units or more), institutional, or industrial sectors.
• Projects involving new construction, expansion of existing buildings, or major renovations affecting all key building systems.
• Buildings must be heated using natural gas, with a performance exceeding CNÉB 2015-Qc by a specified percentage depending on the type of building.
• The project must involve detailed energy simulation conducted by a registered firm using approved simulation tools.
• Applications must be submitted before the project's execution, complete with required simulations and declarations.
• Financial assistance is contingent upon the documentation and verification of project costs, energy savings, and compliance with outlined standards.

grant_eligibility_criteria|eligible_expenses

The grant covers expenses related to energy-efficient new construction or major renovation projects.
• Investment costs related to energy efficiency measures up to 75% of the excess investment costs.
• Costs related to integrated design processes.
• Costs for conducting energy simulations, up to $15,000 or 75% of the costs, whichever is less.

• Step 1: Declaration of Interest Submission
• Submit a Declaration of Interest by filling out the form (Tab 1).
• Step 2: Acknowledgment from Énergir
• Énergir reviews the Declaration of Interest and confirms the opening of the application file.
• Step 3: Submission of Preliminary Energy Simulation Declaration
• Conduct and submit a preliminary energy simulation using the required software.
• Fill in and submit the Preliminary Energy Simulation Declaration (Tab 2).
• Step 4: Preliminary Declaration Review by Énergir
• Énergir analyzes the preliminary simulation documents and communicates approval or rejection along with the amount of financial assistance.
• Step 5: Building Construction
• Proceed with the construction as outlined in the approved simulation report.
• Step 6: Submission of Required Documentation
• Send all required documentation, including the final energy simulation and justifying documents, to Énergir as specified in the Guide de documentation.
• Complete the forms for the final energy simulation (Tab 3) and financial assistance request (Tab 4).
• Step 7: Technical Review of the Energy Simulation
• Énergir appoints an experienced modeller to conduct a technical review of the energy simulation.
• Step 8: Dossier Review and Financial Assistance Validation
• Énergir reviews the complete dossier and confirms the final amount of financial assistance in writing.
• Step 9: Invoice Submission to Énergir
