Summary of the Solutions efficaces – Volet Agricole Grant
The Solutions efficaces – Volet Agricole program by Hydro-Québec offers financial assistance to agricultural businesses in Québec for purchasing and installing efficient products, equipment, and systems. This initiative aims to enhance energy efficiency in agricultural buildings, contributing to sustainability and energy savings in the sector.
Detailed Overview of the Solutions efficaces – Volet Agricole Grant
The Solutions efficaces – Volet Agricole program is a strategic initiative launched by Hydro-Québec to support the agricultural sector in Québec. The program's primary objective is to provide financial assistance to agricultural businesses for the acquisition and installation of energy-efficient products, equipment, and systems. This initiative not only helps reduce energy consumption but also promotes sustainable practices in agriculture.
Program Description
The Solutions efficaces – Volet Agricole program was introduced on April 2, 2024, as a rebranded and improved version of the previously known Produits agricoles efficaces program. The grant is designed to assist agricultural operations in enhancing their energy efficiency by subsidizing the costs associated with the purchase and installation of approved energy-efficient technologies.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the grant, a project must meet specific criteria:
- The project must be conducted in an agricultural building located in Québec.
- The building must be owned, operated, occupied, or constructed by the participant.
- The building’s energy subscription must fall under specific tariffs applicable to the agricultural market, including tariffs D, DT, DP, Flex D, G, G9, M, L, or LG.
- The building must be electrically powered by networks such as Hydro-Québec, eligible autonomous networks, municipal networks, or cooperative networks.
If a project involves products, equipment, or systems that are not eligible under the Solutions efficaces – Volet Agricole program, it may be considered under the customized offer of the Solutions efficaces – Volet moyennes et grandes entreprises program, subject to Hydro-Québec’s approval.
Responsibilities of Participants
Participants in the program have several responsibilities, including:
- Submitting the project proposal to Hydro-Québec.
- Ensuring the project is completed in accordance with program requirements.
- Sending Hydro-Québec the Confirmation of Project Completion and the OSE form (*.hqose).
Participants must use the OSE version applicable at the start date of the project, failing which their request will not be processed. Participants are also required to be aware of the transition rules applicable to the program.
Responsibilities of Partners
If a partner assists the participant, they are responsible for preparing the necessary documents and transmitting them to the participant for submission to Hydro-Québec. The Confirmation of Project Completion and the OSE form must be submitted by the participant.
Eligible Products, Equipment, and Systems
Eligible items must meet the following criteria:
- Be new and certified or approved by recognized independent entities or Hydro-Québec.
- Be purchased in Québec.
- Be installed in an eligible agricultural building.
- Meet the technical and performance requirements established by Hydro-Québec as indicated in OSE.
Projects involving items mandatory for compliance with laws, regulations, or standards, or those with negative impacts on health, safety, or the environment, are not eligible.
Grant Application Process
The application involves several steps:
Step 1: Gather Required Information
Ensure you have the following documents:
- An electricity bill showing the contract number for the location where the items are installed.
- Invoices for the purchase and installation of the items.

Step 2: Project Preparation
Participants must:
- Review the program’s participation guide.
- Download the appropriate OSE version based on the project's start date.
- Use OSE to calculate the potential grant by selecting eligible items.
Step 3: Project Submission
Participants must:
- Complete the OSE file following the prescribed steps.
- Email the filled OSE file, purchase and installation invoices, and the automated Confirmation of Project Completion to Hydro-Québec.
Multiple agricultural buildings can be included in a single OSE file if their Hydro-Québec contract numbers are different as stated on the electricity bills.
Step 4: Compliance and Approval
Hydro-Québec may:
- Request additional documents to justify the project.
- Inspect the project site to ensure compliance with the program requirements.
- Approve or revise the grant amount depending on the project's compliance.

Partners may receive incentive compensation for approved projects under certain conditions. However, projects targeting the Products Module do not qualify for this compensation. The detailed rules for various program components and incentive calculations are specified in the program documentation.
Program Conditions and Commitments
Participants and partners must adhere to the program’s requirements, including:
- Keeping up to date with program requirement updates.
