Who is eligible?
- Legally constituted for-profit companies whose main activity is audiovisual production
- Companies with head office and principal place of business in Quebec and effective control mainly held by persons with tax residence in Quebec
- Companies in operation for at least one year with appropriate professional experience in television series production
Who is not eligible
- Sole proprietorships
- Enterprises subject to sections 136 to 148 of the Charter of the French Language if they do not have an attestation of registration, have not filed the analysis of their linguistic situation within the prescribed time, do not have an attestation of program application or a francization certificate, or appear on the List of Enterprises Non-Compliant with the francization process
- Enterprises subject to sections 149 to 151 of the Charter of the French Language if they refuse the Francisation Québec offer or fail to respect the agreed terms
Eligible expenses
- Option fees paid to an unrelated party or fees paid to acquire the rights to the Quebec literary work
- Writing-related fees, including screenwriter fees, screenwriting consultant fees, script editor fees, scriptwriting consultant fees, and brainstorming fees
- Benefits such as SARTEC and WGC
- Research, graphic design, illustration, and non-broadcast demo costs
- Corporate overhead and producer’s fees, each capped at 10% of eligible expenses, plus other expenses that are relevant and necessary for the project

- Projects that are not new or have already received SODEC or CMF funding
- Co-productions at the predevelopment stage
- Expenses incurred before the application date, except rights or option acquisition costs

Selection criteria
- Priority is given to projects that stand out in terms of their potential for adaptation and feasibility
- Quality and potential of the project’s adaptation into a television series, including critical and public success of the literary work or its author, quality of the adaptation proposal, and relevance to the television market
- Feasibility, including production team expertise, experience of the applicant company, and credibility of the predevelopment estimate, financial structure, and amount requested
- Financial health of the company
- The SODEC and CMF financial resources are always factored into the decision-making process, and at least 80% of the funds allocated to the program are reserved for projects whose original version is in French
How to apply
- Step 1: Prepare the application
- Complete the form and gather the required documents.
- Prepare the adaptation proposal, financial structure, and detailed predevelopment budget.
- Step 2: Submit through SOD@ccès
- Log in to the secure SOD@ccès portal.
- Select program code 20-12-03 and upload the full application package.
- Step 3: Review and decision
- SODEC reviews the application and discusses it with the CMF.
- If approved, sign the required agreements.
Processing and Agreement
- Applications are reviewed by SODEC staff first
- Findings are discussed with the CMF for a joint final decision
- SODEC may seek external opinions if needed
- If approved, separate agreements are signed with SODEC and the CMF
- Payments depend on the signed agreements and available funds
