- the salary of an intern, including benefits, during the period covered by the project;
- professional development costs related to the training of interns who are Indigenous peoples, from a Racialized community, from an official language minority community or have a print disability, excluding travel and accommodation expenses;
- fees to an independent third party for research and analysis of business strategies, and the preparation and presentation of a business plan;
- executive training related to the development of a business plan (salaries of owners, executives and employees, as well as travel and accommodation expenses, are not eligible expenses);
- administration fees.

- Submit your application electronically through the Canadian Heritage Online System.
- Submit your online application by 5:00 p.m. (Eastern Time) on January 31.

- Funding priority may be given to projects proposed by publishing companies owned and controlled by members of a Racialized community, official language minority, or Indigenous publishing firms.
- Interns proposed should be Indigenous, a member of a Racialized community, from an official language minority community, or have a print disability.
- The duration of internships is limited to one year to provide opportunities for new professionals to enter the publishing industry.
- Proposed interns cannot be existing employees of the publishing firm and must not have benefited from a CBF-funded internship previously.
- Priority may be given to projects emphasizing adoption of innovative technology strategies in production, marketing, or information management.
- Funding conditions may include the submission of interim reports during the project and a final report at the project's conclusion.
- Additional conditions may apply and will be outlined in the funding agreement.
- Recipients must acknowledge financial support in English and French in all public communications materials related to the project.
- Applicants should be aware of workplace well-being requirements to maintain a harassment-free environment in line with Government standards.
- Official languages requirements must be adhered to, promoting English and French in Canadian society if funding is received.
- Access to Information Act and Privacy Act implications may arise, allowing disclosure of submitted information as required by law.
- Applicants authorize the disclosure of information within the Government of Canada for decision-making, evaluation, and transparency purposes.
- Recipients may be subject to audits and Program evaluations to ensure compliance with funding agreements and program requirements.
