Activities funded

  • Development, expansion or quality upgrade of tourist accommodation to address unit deficits, extend operating seasons or add new services.
  • Construction, enlargement or improvement of accommodation facilities and related tourism experiences on a given site.
  • Deployment of new visitor services or amenities specifically adapted to tourist clienteles.

Documents Needed

  • Completed and signed application form in Excel format.
  • Detailed business plan or project plan, including required permits and authorizations.
  • Most recent financial statements for the last two years, where applicable.
  • Three-year financial forecasts or project revenue-expense forecast, depending on project type.
  • Board or council resolution authorizing the funding application and project signatory.

Eligibility

  • Be a legally constituted tourism organization under Quebec or Canadian law and conduct business in Quebec.
  • Belong to one of the eligible categories: for-profit organization, non-profit organization, cooperative, municipal entity, Indigenous community or nation, or their groupings.
  • For accommodation establishments, comply with applicable laws and regulations and hold a valid registration number.
  • For nature and adventure tourism businesses, comply with or commit to Qualité-Sécurité Adventure Écotourisme Québec standards when required.
  • Have met any previous funding commitments to partners under earlier subsidies.

Who is eligible?

  • Tourism businesses operating accommodation establishments.
  • Tourism-focused for-profit companies.
  • Tourism non-profit organizations and cooperatives.
  • Municipal entities involved in tourism development.
  • Indigenous communities, nations and Indigenous tourism enterprises.

Who is not eligible

  • Crown corporations, and Quebec and Canadian government departments and agencies.
  • Applicants listed in the Register of enterprises ineligible for public contracts.
  • Enterprises not compliant with the Office québécois de la langue française francization process.

Eligible expenses

  • Construction, expansion, reconstruction, adaptation, conversion and fitting-out of tourist accommodation infrastructures and related facilities.
  • Purchase and installation of specialized equipment, furniture, technological equipment, boats or rolling stock that enhance the visitor or employee experience.
  • Professional fees for design, engineering, technical personnel, project management, accountability and preparatory studies or business plans.
  • Acquisition of land, servitudes and rights of way required for the project, as well as eligible surveying, site quality control, and contingency costs.
  • Net taxes related to eligible costs, excluding refundable portions.

  • Tourism businesses doing business in Quebec, specifically within the Eastern Townships region.

  • Alignment with EPRTNT objectives in innovation, sustainable development and digital transformation.
  • Structuring impact on the destination, including attractiveness, tangible benefits, partnerships, seasonality and productivity.
  • Strategic relevance in terms of key products, market potential, competition, positioning and marketing strategy.
  • Quality of project governance and feasibility, including business processes, human and financial resources, timelines and overall application quality.

How to apply

  • Step 1: Complete pre-admissibility form
    • Fill out the online EPRTNT financial assistance pre-admissibility form.
    • Submit the form so Tourisme Cantons-de-l’Est can verify main eligibility elements.
  • Step 2: Receive application form
    • After validation, receive by email the EPRTNT financial assistance application form tailored to the accommodation category.
  • Step 3: Prepare full application
    • Complete the Excel application form in full.
    • Compile all required supporting documents as indicated in the category fact sheet.
  • Step 4: Submit application by email
    • Send the completed Excel form and all required documents by email to eprtnt@atrce.com before the call deadline.

Processing and Agreement

  • Pre-admissibility forms are reviewed by Tourisme Cantons-de-l’Est to validate basic eligibility.
  • Complete applications with all required documents are analyzed over several months following each call for projects.
  • Applicants receive official letters of support or refusal at the announced decision date.
  • For approved projects, a financial assistance agreement must be signed, and missing confirmations (e.g. other funding or permits) must be provided within six months.

Additional information

  • The program generally runs two calls for projects per year, with specific deadlines announced in advance.
  • Projects can start at the time the application is submitted, at the applicant’s own risk.
  • Approved projects must be completed within 24 months following the funding announcement.
  • Incomplete applications are automatically rejected by the managing organization.
