Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Incorporated, profit-oriented small or medium-sized businesses in Canada with 500 or fewer full-time equivalent employees.
  • Eligible Brazilian companies of any size.
  • Brazilian research institutions accredited as EMBRAPII Units.

Who is not eligible

  • Universities.
  • Research institutes.
  • Participants from other countries.

Selection criteria

  • Priority will be given to projects that contribute to sustainable development goals.
  • Priority will be given to proposals related to biotechnology, artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and advanced manufacturing.

How to apply

  • Canadian applicants must register using the Register button at the bottom of the page.
  • Each Canadian applicant seeking funding must submit an expression of interest (EOI) form.
  • During the international consortium project proposal phase, all project partners work together to complete and submit the ICPP package to each implicated national funding body.
  • During the national funding body proposal and funding agreement phase, eligible project partners work independently to complete funding proposals and sign legally binding funding agreements with their respective national funding body.

Processing and Agreement

  • NRC IRAP reviews Canadian registrations and contacts applicants if more information is required.
  • Qualifying applicants are invited to submit an expression of interest, which is evaluated by the applicant's NRC IRAP representative and the NRC IRAP International Office.
  • Canadian ICPP applications are evaluated by an NRC IRAP evaluation team, and the amalgamated results are shared between both implicated national funding bodies to jointly select the collaborative projects.
  • Eligible project partners complete funding proposals and sign legally binding funding agreements with their respective national funding body.
  • Failure to submit all required documents or meet the due diligence process may cause the entire collaborative project application to be considered incomplete or ineligible.

Additional information

  • Canadian SME applicants may apply to more than one NRC IRAP call for proposals simultaneously, but NRC IRAP may limit the number of funded projects per applicant.
