- Businesses that do not represent Canadian artists or do not regularly seek out new opportunities in the Canadian arts market.
- Organizations applying for activities that have already received funding from another Canada Council program.
- Applicants intending to fund activities that occur before the application deadline date.
- Projects that fall under the general list of ineligible activities as defined by the Canada Council.
Eligible expenses
- Transportation costs (based on fixed amounts)
- Accommodation and per diem (up to 5 days per trip)
- Additional shipping or baggage costs directly related to the activity (up to $2,500)
- Conference fees and booth rental costs for market development events

Selection criteria
- Relevance (40%): rationale, timeliness, suitability, and relevance of the event or host organizations. Minimum score required: 25/40.
- Impact (40%): potential to develop and enhance the national or international profile of the artists and generate future opportunities. Minimum score required: 25/40.
- Feasibility (20%): capacity and experience of the applicant and partners, and a reasonable budget. Minimum score required: 10/20.
How to apply
- Step 1: Register in the portal
- Create an account and submit the required profile(s) for validation at least 30 days before applying.
- Step 2: Prepare application materials
- Gather information about your project, travel plans, budget, and event or host organizations.
- Prepare the Budget and Appendices document.
- Collect letters of invitation or written confirmations, if applicable.
- Prepare a roster of the artists you represent.
- Step 3: Complete the online application
- Fill out the application form in the portal.
- Attach all required support material.
- Step 4: Submit before departure
- Submit the application any time before your departure date.
- Step 5: After a successful application
- Complete the Grant Acceptance Form.
- Submit the final report within 3 months after project completion.
Processing and Agreement
- Applications are usually reviewed within 4 months of submission
- Applications are assessed internally against relevance, impact, and feasibility criteria
- A grant acceptance form must be completed if the application is successful
- A final report is due 3 months after project completion

- Applicants must register in the online portal and have their profile validated at least 30 days before applying.
- Application submissions are allowed up to four times per year, with a maximum annual grant amount of $30,000.
- All grant recipients are required to submit a final report within three months after project completion.
