- Third-party affiliations that do not directly serve primary agriculture, such as agriculture societies, community groups, alumni groups, trade show organizers, event promoters, and youth-focused charities.

- Consulting fees paid to a third-party consultant.
- Training to improve human resource business skills.
- Fees to engage facilitators who coach business owners on HR best practices.

- Projects targeting recruitment or retention of temporary foreign workers.
- GST.
- Employee wages, housing, relocation, or training costs.
- Projects already funded by the Government of Alberta or the Government of Canada.
