Eligibility
Who is eligible?
- Eligible Music Companies
- Prince Edward Island owned businesses with at least a 51% Prince Edward Island client base
- Registered Prince Edward Island businesses with CRA business numbers for at least one year
Who is not eligible
- A non-Prince Edward Island Developing Company/Entrepreneur may not be the Applicant for a Prince Edward Island Artist
Eligible expenses
- Online learning programs, tutorials, and sessions
- Subscription services for necessary software or web applications
- Website development and/or maintenance costs
- Photos, branding, and design costs
- Consulting fees considered on a case-by-case basis and approved in advance by Music PEI
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Artist-specific costs or costs incurred by or on behalf of a specific Artist
- Costs already funded by public investments
- Overhead or day-to-day costs such as staff salaries, day-to-day office administration, equipment and supplies costs, rent, and occupancy costs
- Travel and registration costs for industry events
- Food, beverage, and Artist costs associated with company showcases or receptions

Selection criteria
- Project Concept is weighted at 35%.
- Project Execution is weighted at 30%.
- Project Partners are weighted at 15%.
- Financing is weighted at 10%.
- Presentation is weighted at 10%.
- Gut Feeling is weighted at 5%.
How to apply
- Ensure your Music PEI membership is active and in good standing at least one week before applying.
- Complete the online application webform.
- Attach the required Business Development Plan to the web form.
Processing and Agreement
- Applications are assessed by a jury using a scoring rubric.
- The jury evaluates Project Concept, Project Execution, Project Partners, Financing, Presentation, and Gut Feeling.
- Music PEI and the applicant must execute the investment agreement before the advance is paid.
- The remainder of the investment is paid when the Final Report has been received, reviewed, and accepted by Music PEI.
- Final Reports must be submitted no later than thirty days after the project has been completed.
