The MRC Les Moulins — Futurpreneur Canada grant provides up to $20,000 in funding to support young entrepreneurs aged 18 to 39 in starting a business or undertaking entrepreneurial succession actions. Eligible activities include developing viable business plans and establishing businesses in recognized sectors excluding religious, sexual, political, or seasonal enterprises.

Financing terms and conditions

  • Financial aid is provided in the form of a reimbursement of interest and administration fees incurred by the entrepreneur with Futurpreneur Canada, up to a maximum of $6,000 per enterprise.
  • The financial aid is offered as a non-repayable grant, distributed annually for a maximum period of five years, upon confirmation of loan repayment granted by Futurpreneur Canada.
  • Combined financial assistance from provincial and federal governments, and the MRC Les Moulins cannot exceed 50% of the project’s startup costs.
  • If the business ceases operations or relocates outside the MRC Les Moulins, it becomes ineligible for financial aid from the Fonds Jeunes Promoteurs (FJP).
  • A formal agreement (protocol of understanding) between the MRC Les Moulins and the business will establish the disbursement conditions and obligations of both parties.
  • Financial assistance is subject to the authorization of the MRC Les Moulins Council and contingent on fund availability.

Eligibility

  • The business must submit a business plan focusing on the first two years of operation, showing good viability and profitability potential.
  • The business must be financed by a capital contribution from the applicant(s).
  • The business must be a registered company or duly incorporated entity, with its main activity located within the territory of the MRC Les Moulins and must commit to staying in this area for the duration covered by the FJP.

Who is eligible?

The MRC Les Moulins — Futurpreneur Canada grant is aimed at young entrepreneurs aged 18 to 39 who wish to start a business or are involved in transferring an existing business in the region of MRC Les Moulins. Applicants must demonstrate the viability of their business through a complete business plan and must start their business in the MRC Les Moulins area. It is important for applicants to have relevant education or experience in their business field and commit to mentorship for up to two years. Additionally, they must hold at least 51% of the voting shares of the business if in a partnership, and they should not be studying full-time. The business should be operational for less than 12 months and must create a sustainable full-time job for the applicant.
