MRC de Mékinac — Support fund for cultural initiatives

Who is eligible?

• Non-profit cultural or non-cultural organizations with a registered office in the MRC de Mékinac.
• Legally constituted sole proprietorships.
• Incorporated committees or committees established by municipal councils.
• Municipalities.

Who is not eligible

• Organizations outside the MRC de Mékinac.
• Projects already funded by certain Quebec cultural programs, unless an exception applies.
• Projects already started or completed at the time of application.
• Recurring projects with no added value, profit-making activities, and projects tied to regular events or festivals.

Eligible expenses

• Equipment purchase or rental needed for the project.
• Project delivery and promotion costs, including artist or speaker fees, per diems, sound equipment, and printing for promotional materials.

Ineligible Costs and Activities

• Meals, beverages, prizes, scholarships, and sponsorships.
• Regular operating costs or expenses tied to the organization’s core mission.
• Debt financing or loan repayment.
• Strictly performance-only, festival operations, national celebrations, commemorations, profit-making, publication, or recurring projects without added value.

• Step 1: Review the funding policy
  • Check the investment policy and application requirements.
  • Confirm that your project fits the program.
• Step 2: Prepare the application file
  • Complete and sign the application form.
  • Gather supporting documents such as the board resolution and proof of funding or partnerships, if applicable.
• Step 3: Submit the project application
  • Send the complete file to the MRC de Mékinac.
  • Applications are accepted on a continuous basis.
• Step 4: Await review and decision
  • The MRC reviews the file and may request clarifications.
  • The application is then presented to the cultural committee.

• Applications are first reviewed by the MRC’s recreation, culture and communications coordinator.
• If needed, the applicant may be contacted to clarify missing or incomplete information.
• Projects are then presented to the cultural committee for review.
• A decision is normally provided within about 30 days, followed by a letter explaining the outcome or funding conditions.
• Approved funding is paid after the project is completed and the required supporting documents and evaluation report are submitted.

• Projects are assessed by the MRC’s recreation, culture and communications coordinator and then presented to the cultural committee.
• Applicants are encouraged to contact the MRC before submitting to confirm eligibility.
• Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
• The project must be carried out within one or more municipalities of the MRC de Mékinac.
