Who is eligible?
- Registered charities.
- Provincially or federally registered not-for-profit organization.
- Unregistered community organization.
- Municipalities or public institutions.
Who is not eligible
- Individuals or private businesses.
- Political parties or organizations.
- Religious organizations, except for programs or services offered to the public on a nondenominational basis.
- Organizations that discriminate based on race, national or ethnic origin, color, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability or other characteristics protected by law.
Eligible expenses
- Operating expenses related to a specific project, such as equipment, marketing and salaries, may be eligible.

- Endowment or memorial campaigns.
- Deficit or debt reduction expenses.
- Retroactive expenses.
- Ongoing operating expenses such as utilities, rent and insurance.

Selection criteria
- The initiative shows potential to improve financial well-being of individuals or businesses and has clear and measurable goals.
- The organization is well-positioned, with the expertise and resources, to deliver the project as described.
- The key milestones outlined in the application are clear and attainable.
- The project budget is reasonable relative to the project scope.
- There is opportunity for Libro to increase awareness of our brand, Purpose, and the products and services we offer, and projects that support environmental sustainability or promote equitable opportunities for underserved or marginalized groups, including Indigenous peoples, are prioritized.
How to apply
- Organizations must apply online through the online application portal; applications through branches are not accepted.
- To be considered in a particular month, applications must be submitted by the 15th.
- For multiple initiatives, organizations should submit a single application that includes a complete list of all initiatives.
Processing and Agreement
- Applications are reviewed four times a year in February, May, August and November.
- Funding decisions will be communicated in March, June, September and December.
- While we review every application, alignment with these criteria does not guarantee funding.

- Applications are accepted year-round.
- Only one contribution is awarded per organization per calendar year.
- Organizations with multiple initiatives should submit a single application.
- Sponsorships have a separate application process.
