Eligible expenses

  • Purchase and installation of low-pressure irrigation systems for existing licensed irrigated acres, including center pivot, linear, and sub-surface systems when converting from gravity or side-wheel systems.
  • Low-pressure sprinkler components and installation, such as nozzles, pressure regulators, booms, delivery hose or pipe, and drip or trickle filters and emitters.
  • Pump and power upgrades, including conversion from combustion to electric, wind, or solar power, low-pressure pump replacement, and variable frequency drive motors with related controls.
  • Fertigation equipment and irrigation efficiency technology, including injector pumps, storage tanks, flow monitors, water metres, moisture sensors, telemetry, speed control systems, and variable rate irrigation equipment.
  • Pump intake improvements to protect the water source, including screens, shoreline modifications, backflow prevention or check valves, repairs to the existing intake system, and erosion control earthwork.

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Projects or expenses started before October 1, 2022, and invoices not issued in the applicant's name.
  • New irrigation development and related costs, including new irrigation systems, pumps, pipe infrastructure, and water-source expansion.
  • Electric motors replacing existing electric motors, combustion engines replacing existing combustion engines, and regular repair or maintenance work.
  • Taxes, financing fees, interest, legal fees, labour or administration costs, application support fees, land purchases, easements, warranties, and insurance.
  • Used, leased, fabricated, auctioned, in-kind, or inventory materials and costs, and any expenses already funded through another government program.
