Overview of the innovÉÉ — Demonstration in a real environment program
The INNOVÉÉ — Demonstration in a Real Environment program offers a maximum funding amount of $350,000 per project to support SMEs in showcasing and demonstrating innovative technologies in land transportation and sustainable mobility. Eligible activities include real-world demonstrations and technology showcases that help solidify partnerships with cities or transportation companies.
Financing terms and conditions
- Financial assistance is awarded as a non-repayable contribution.
- The maximum financial assistance provided per project is 50% of the eligible expenses.
- The maximum funding amount available per project is $350,000.
- An enterprise is eligible to receive a maximum cumulative sum of $500,000 during the program's validity from April 1, 2019, to March 31, 2024.
- Funds for eligible expenses will be made available only after a complete and eligible application is submitted and confirmed by the Ministry.
- The assistance contributes to overall project expenses, excluding pre-existing financing or interim credit solutions.
- The cumulative government funding limit, including other forms of aid (non-repayable and repayable), is set at 75% of the total project costs.
- Funding from other Ministère de l’Économie et de l’Innovation programs cannot be combined with this program's financial assistance.
Eligible projects & activities
- Demonstration in a real operational situation outside of laboratories for scaling up or completing the development or improvement of a product or process.
- Technology showcase, involving the demonstration of a product or process in a real operational situation with a public or private partner, under specified conditions, such as having completed the development phase and being ready for commercialization.

Eligibility criteria of the innovÉÉ — Demonstration in a real environment program
- The applicant must be a small or medium-sized enterprise (SME) with a demonstration or technology showcase project in sustainable mobility or land transportation.
- The company must be legally constituted under the laws of Quebec or Canada.
- The enterprise must have an operational facility in Quebec intended for the production of goods or services or for internal research and development activities.
- The enterprise must not be controlled directly or indirectly by a government (provincial or federal) or a municipal entity.
- The enterprise must not be majority-owned by a state corporation.
- The enterprise must not be under protection under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act or the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act.
- The enterprise must not be registered in the Register of enterprises ineligible for public contracts.
- The enterprise must have met its obligations if previously receiving financial aid from the Ministry of Economy and Innovation in the two years preceding the current application.
Who is eligible?
- Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in any sector with projects related to sustainable mobility or land transportation.
Who is not eligible
- Companies directly or indirectly controlled by a government entity (provincial, federal, or municipal).
- Companies majority-owned by a crown corporation.
- Businesses under protection of the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act or the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act.
- Enterprises listed in the Register of companies ineligible for public contracts.
- Companies that failed to meet their obligations related to past financial aid from the Ministry of Economy and Innovation within two years prior to the application.
Eligible expenses
- Professional fees for specialized services, including expenses detailed in the QuébecInnove member service offer.
- Subcontracting services.
- Direct project-related labor costs, including benefits and mandatory contributions.
- Travel and accommodation expenses related to project execution, including those for potential clients attending a real-world operation demonstration or visiting a technology showcase, in accordance with government standards.
- Costs directly related to materials and inventory.
- Direct equipment costs, calculated based on the project's duration relative to the equipment's useful life.
- Equipment rental fees.
- Platform fees.
- Costs to participate in exhibitions and trade shows to present the product or process and attract potential clients to the technology showcase.
- Project assembly and management fees by the leading organization for projects submitted by a business group, up to a maximum of 7% of eligible project expenses.
Eligible geographic areas
- Companies must have an establishment operating in Quebec.

- The degree of innovation of the project, including the extent to which the product or technology offers a significant advantage over existing market solutions.
- The commercial potential of the product and the company’s marketing strategy.
- The relevance of the project in relation to the applicant’s business model and the expected benefits for the company.
- The quality and realism of the project's implementation plan.
- The strength and involvement of the partners, especially the city or transport company involved.
- The company’s capability to successfully execute the project in terms of financial and human resources.
- The level of risk and uncertainty associated with the project, along with the quality of the risk mitigation plan.
- The robustness of intellectual property rights and the strategy employed to maintain a competitive edge.
- The potential socioeconomic impact in Quebec.
- The elements of sustainable development considered in the project plan.

Read carefully the Application Presentation Guide for the Innovation Program – Component 1.

Preparation of the request
- Fill out the Innovation Program form – Component 1, including all necessary annexes.
- Gather the mandatory supporting documents such as the financial statements for the last two years, the project timeline, and the financial forecasts.
- Include optional and requested documents that can strengthen your application (letters of commitment, francization certificates, etc.).

Writing the request
Write the request entirely in French, ensuring it is signed by a person authorized by the company.

Additional information
- The grant is currently not available.
- Applications for the existing program must be written in French and signed by an authorized official.
- The Ministry aims to communicate application decisions within 10 to 15 business days following project approval.
- A declaration of non-eligibility will be made for incomplete submissions or applications that do not meet program criteria.
