Eligible expenses
- Event preparation and management costs
- Programming, promotion, marketing and communication costs
- Site and installation management costs, including eligible travel costs
- Salaries and benefits tied to the event, audited in-kind sponsorships, and costs related to sustainable development obligations
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Capital projects and infrastructure costs
- Working capital, debt service, operating losses, capital losses and capital buybacks
- Costs or activities not related to delivering the event
- Regular programming of a tourist attraction
- Trade shows, tourism marketplaces, conferences, conventions, shows, non-gourmet fairs or markets, and exhibitions limited to exhibition-only activities

Processing and Agreement
- Applications are reviewed by the Ministry of Tourism under its management framework and program rules.
- Only complete files submitted during the official intake period are studied.
- Projects are assessed against the stream objectives and performance criteria, and eligibility does not guarantee funding.
- If approved, support is granted through a funding agreement for up to three years or until the program end date.
- Financial assistance is paid in a lump sum, subject to budget availability.
Additional information
- A maximum of 40 calendar days is considered for the event as a whole during assessment.
- Applications must include sustainable development indicators identified by the CQEER.
- Studies completed before 2025 are accepted at program start, but new studies must be filed before the end of the funding agreement.
- The program is scheduled to end on March 31, 2029.
