  • Customer-side electrical work, including wiring and eligible transformers
  • Solar infrastructure directly supporting the chargers

  • Salaries, benefits, bonuses, commissions, and overtime
  • Overhead and administrative costs, including rent, utilities, memberships, and office costs
  • Refundable taxes, financing costs, and interest charges
  • Legal fees not directly reimbursable, accessory capital costs, and in-kind support

How to apply

Create an account and register on Transfer Payment Ontario

  • Create a My Ontario account on Transfer Payment Ontario.
  • Visit Transfer Payment Ontario to learn how to set up an account.
  • If needed, refer to the "Get Help" section of Transfer Payment Ontario for assistance.

Prepare the required documentation

  • Obtain proof of site ownership or proof of access to the site.
  • For projects on reserve, obtain written support from the band council.
  • Gather evidence of funding, including the Contribution Confirmation and/or Funding from Other Individuals.
  • Respond to the preliminary electrical assessment if the total electrical load exceeds 50 kW.

Complete the online application form

  • Access the application form on Transfer Payment Ontario.
  • Fill out the form with the project information, including latitude/longitude, project description, etc.
  • Attach all required documentation prepared previously.
  • Submit the completed form by .

Wait for application assessment

  • The Ministry will review applications in winter 2024.
  • Assessment will be based on merit criteria.

Receive and sign the Agreement Letter

  • Receive the Agreement Letter in spring 2024 if the application is approved.
  • Sign and return the Agreement Letter to the Ministry.

Implementation and progress reporting

  • Complete the installation within 24 months of receiving the Agreement Letter.
  • The Ministry will follow up at 6, 12, and 18 months to request updates on project progress.

Submit the project completion report

  • After installation and operationalization, submit the project completion report.
  • Include receipts/invoices, site photos, network agreement, etc.
  • The Ministry will review and approve the report before releasing funds.

Annual usage reports

  • Submit an annual usage report for the five years following the project completion date.
  • Include data such as the date, time, duration of each charging session, and the kWh drawn.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are reviewed for completeness and eligibility
  • Eligible projects are externally evaluated and ranked against program priorities
  • Recommended projects are sent to the Ministry of Transportation for final funding decision
  • Successful applicants receive an agreement to sign before funding is released
  • After completion, a project completion report is reviewed before reimbursement is paid
