Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Not-for-profit organizations.
  • Community-based organizations.
  • Organizations operating in Peel Region or serving Peel residents.

Who is not eligible

  • Individuals.
  • For-profit organizations.
  • Organizations acting as a funding body.
  • Organizations affiliated with a political party or with a political mandate.
  • Programs where the federal or provincial government has primary responsibility for funding.

Eligible expenses

  • Staff salaries for time directly spent on the project.
  • Contractor or consultant fees for delivery, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Workshop, meeting, and event costs directly related to the project.
  • Supplies, materials, and communication or IT items used for the project.
  • Travel costs for employees and volunteers, plus repairs and renovations.

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Purchase of property.
  • Religious or political activities, including proselytizing.
  • Event sponsorship and fundraising activities.
  • Overhead and administration costs such as rent, utilities, accounting, and legal fees.
  • Capital expenses such as office furniture.

How to apply

  • Step 1: Preliminary application
    • Submit the preliminary application through Survey Monkey on the Community Investment Program website.
    • Provide basic organization and project information.
  • Step 2: Invitation to Stage 2
    • Wait for review of the preliminary application.
    • Eligible applicants are invited to continue.
  • Step 3: Submit mandatory information and documents
    • Email the required organizational and financial documents to the fund coordinator.
    • Submit the items requested by Peel Region.
  • Step 4: Detailed application
    • Complete the detailed application form and email it to the fund coordinator.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are reviewed in two stages: preliminary application, then detailed application if invited.
  • Eligible applications are assessed by Peel Region staff and a Fund Review Committee.
  • Applicants are notified whether they are approved or declined.
  • Approved applicants must sign a written funding agreement.
  • Funding is conditional on reporting requirements being met.
