Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Publishing firms producing print magazines and print (non-daily) community newspapers
  • Publishing firms with either free circulation or a low level of paid circulation
  • Private-sector entities, including corporations, not-for-profit organizations, partnerships and sole proprietorships

Who is not eligible

  • Periodicals currently receiving Aid to Publishers — Canada Periodical Fund funding for the same funding cycle
  • Digital-only periodicals
  • Daily newspapers
  • Non stand-alone periodicals or inserts to newspapers
  • Newsletters

Eligible expenses

  • Creation activities, including writing, editing, photography, illustration, and design
  • Production activities, including prepress and printing
  • Marketing
  • Distribution
  • Website development and enhancement, including content development and improvements to site architecture and functionality

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Dividends, bonuses, or other extraordinary compensation to shareholders or owners
  • Remuneration of persons who are neither Canadian citizens nor permanent residents
  • Remuneration of persons who do not create original content
  • Volunteer services, employee benefits, in-kind contributions, travel expenses, operating and management costs

How to apply
