Financing terms and conditions
- Up to $200,000 provided over nine months for successful Stage 1 applicants to develop a proof-of-concept.
- At six months, Stage 1 recipients can apply for Stage 2 funding covering up to 75% of eligible expenses to support the partnered platform for up to three years.
- No maximum budget has been set per platform.

Eligibility criteria of the Alberta Innovates — Health Innovations program
- The applicant must be an Alberta-based entity with a presence in Alberta.
- Eligible applicants include post-secondary institutions, government entities or health delivery agents, and for-profit or not-for-profit organizations.
- The project must address a clearly defined health innovation client journey bottleneck inhibiting the growth of Alberta's health research and innovation ecosystem.
- The proposed platform must serve Alberta-based clients and be readily accessible.
- The project must offer novel or significantly improved services compared to currently available offerings.

How to apply to the Alberta Innovates — Health Innovations program

Registration
- Access the Stage 1 application form on the online application portal.
- Complete the Non-Confidential Summary section.
- Save a draft of the application by November 30, 2020, at 4:00 PM MST.

Expression of Interest (Stage 1)
- Submit the completed Stage 1 application before the deadline on January 15th, 2021, at 4:00 PM MST.
- Receive notification from Alberta Innovates regarding the success of the application.
- Successful Stage 1 applicants may receive up to $200,000 in funding to develop a Proof-of-Concept Platform Partnership.

Full Platform Proposal (Stage 2)
- Prepare a full proposal that is consistent with the scope of the approved Stage 1 application.
- Submit the full proposal by August 31, 2021, at 4:00 PM MST.
- Participate in a panel review process, which may include providing additional information, appearing before the panel, or hosting a site visit.
- Successful Stage 2 applicants will be eligible for up to 75% of the required funds for platform implementation for up to 36 months.
Additional information
- The evaluation process involves both Alberta Innovates internal staff and external expert reviewers, whose identities are kept confidential.
- Applicants may be asked to appear before a review panel or host a site visit to support final decision-making.
- All external parties involved in the review are subject to confidentiality and conflict of interest policies set by Alberta Innovates.
- The program is currently inactive, and no new applications are being accepted at this time.
