  • Step 1: Pre-Application Connection
  • Content: Engage with a Technology Development Advisor (TDA) prior to applying online.
  • Implications: TDAs provide guidance and coaching, assess an applicant’s Digital Traction readiness, recommend suitable alternative Alberta Innovates funding programs, and help direct applicants to external funding opportunities.
  • Step 2: Application and Evaluation
  • Content: Access and submit the application form on the online application portal at any time. Applications outline the current state of the opportunity, the applicant’s management and project team, business and technical outcomes for three milestones, activities for the first Milestone of the Project, and the applicant’s current financial state.
  • Implications: Applications are reviewed and evaluated to determine fit with the Digital Traction objectives and intended outcomes. Alberta Innovates staff and external expert reviewers evaluate applications.
  • Step 3: Monitoring and Reporting
  • Content: For approved applications, execute an Investment Agreement with Alberta Innovates to proceed with the activities of the Project. TDAs monitor the progress of the project and provide coaching to the applicant.
  • Implications: Reporting includes Progress Reports (2) and Final Report (1).
