Première Ovation: Supporting Emerging Artists in Quebec
What is Première Ovation?
Première Ovation is an initiative launched in 2008 by the City of Quebec to support the early careers of young artists. Its goal is to help emerging talents access the resources they need to create, perform, and gain professional experience in various artistic disciplines.
Financial Support and Opportunities
The program offers different forms of financial aid, such as writing or creation grants, mentoring, and professional development. With these supports, young artists can turn their projects into reality, no matter the artistic field. A range of aid programs is available, ensuring every discipline is included.
Project Calls and How to Apply
Every year, both the City of Quebec and partner organizations invite emerging artists and cultural institutions to submit their proposals. Selected projects receive grants to help them take their careers to the next level. Applicants can find specific eligibility requirements and explore current calls for projects.
Disciplines Supported
Première Ovation embraces a wide array of disciplines: literary arts, media arts, multidisciplinary arts, digital arts, visual arts, cinema, circus, dance, design, crafts, music, heritage, and theatre.
Impact on the Artistic Community
To date, more than 20,000 artists from Quebec and Wendake have benefitted from Première Ovation, using it as a springboard to distinguish themselves and achieve their artistic ambitions. The program continues to play a crucial role in nurturing and highlighting new artistic talent in the region.
