Eligibility
Who is eligible?
- Legal entities validly incorporated or registered in Canada or abroad, including not-for-profit and for-profit organizations.
- Electric utilities, companies, industry associations, Indigenous businesses and community groups, and Canadian provincial, territorial, regional or municipal governments or their departments or agencies where applicable.
Who is not eligible
- Individuals.
- Any part of the federal public administration, including departments, Crown corporations and agencies.
- Softwood lumber companies and those that are vertically integrated with them.
Eligible expenses
- Project staff salaries and employee benefits.
- Professional and contracted services (e.g., engineering, construction, installation, testing and commissioning, training, marketing, data collection, logistics, maintenance planning, printing/distribution).
- Reasonable project travel costs (transportation, meals and accommodation).
- Capital purchases for project equipment and infrastructure (including IT/informatics equipment).
- Equipment/infrastructure rental or leasing costs.
- Licence fees and permit costs.
- Environmental assessment costs.
- GST/PST/HST (net of any tax rebate the recipient is entitled to).
- Project overhead directly related to the project (up to 15% of eligible expenditures).

Eligible geographic areas
- Transportation corridor public EV charging high-priority areas ranked 4 or 5 on the Electric Vehicle Charging Planning Map, within 5 km of a road segment identified on the map.
How to apply
- Confirm the Call for Proposals is active, because applications can only be submitted during an active CFP.
- Access the Transportation and Fuels Decarbonization Programs portal under the funding opportunity for owners/operators of ZEV infrastructure, and create a GCKey if needed.
- Submit a complete application package through the portal.
- Include a completed online application form, supporting documentation, and an attestation dated and signed by a duly authorized officer.
- Incomplete applications will not be considered for funding.
Processing and Agreement
- NRCan acknowledges receipt of the application/proposal within 5 business days (service standard).
- NRCan reviews the submission and provides a funding decision within 100 calendar days (service standard).
- If conditionally approved, NRCan sends a draft Contribution Agreement for review within 30 business days of issuing the Letter of Conditional Approval (service standard).
- NRCan and the proponent negotiate and sign a Contribution Agreement (negotiation/signature period: 2 months).
- After the agreement is signed, the proponent submits quarterly payment claims and progress reports for reimbursement; NRCan issues payments within 30 business days of receiving a complete claim (service standard).
