• The applicant must be a for-profit organization, non-profit organization, charity, Indigenous recipient, municipality or local organization, province or territory, or part of academia or a public institution.
• The project must be time-specific and focus on advancing equality in relation to sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression.
• The proposed initiative should involve activities such as partnership building, capacity building, or applied community research.

• Canada (including all provinces and territories)

• Alignment of the project with objectives aimed at advancing gender equality, sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression.
• Project's ability to address identified gaps and respond to current or emerging issues related to equality.
• Measurable impact on the target audiences, particularly in terms of people reached or changes in policies and practices.
• Development of partnerships and collaborations to maximize the project's impact.
• Capacity building of the organizations and stakeholders involved.

• Funding is distributed through both grants and contributions, with specific annual allocations detailed for each fiscal year.
• Not all qualified applicants are guaranteed to receive funding due to limited available funds.
• The program emphasizes capacity building, partnership development, and applied community research.
• The Department for Women and Gender Equality actively engages with applicants and recipients to facilitate partnerships and knowledge sharing.
